Musky River Flow?

Yeah I checked it out earlier...right now it seems high in the smaller tribs, but OK in the main rivers...which is what I'd expect.

Just not sure how much rain you guys got up north...we got hammered down all night and today here but my friends in central NJ said it hasn't really rained since last night.

Figured I'd see if anyone up there has some insight into it before I make the 2 hour trek Sunday :)

The flow of the Musky is also very depentant upon the dam at lake hopatcong.

Also the northern section around hackettstown in more rocky than silty and will not brown up as often as the lower sections

Normal flows for this time of year are just over 300 cfs at the Bloomsbury gauge. Even with today's rains, the river is at around 260 cfs, so below normal. I was on the entire river today from the headwaters of Lubber's Run, down along Lake Hopatcong, all up north, then Asbury, Hampton, and finally down in Finesville a half mile from the Delaware getting ready for our annual river clean up tomorrow led by the Musconetcong Watershed Association with lots of volunteer help from Trout Unlimited.

The lower most river was slightly off color and will be clear by morning with flows peaking soon and dropping by tomorrow to perfect levels for fishing. The dam at Lake Hopatcong is largely closed and is being maintained currently at 12 cfs to allow the lake to fully fill by Memorial Day. Right now, the lake is within about 7" of full pool, so we're in good shape in getting it full for the main boating season. Get out and fish! Today was mainly rainbows stocked and there are always plenty of holdover fish and some wild fish.

And if anyone wants to help with the clean up and fish later, we meet at 9 am at three sites: Hampton Borough Park on the middle river, the old FiberMark paper mill off Cypher's Road in Holland Twp. on the lower river, and I lead the upper river effort at San Bar Park/Alumni Field in Hackettstown off Willow Grove Street which is off rt. 46 and the same road the H-town Hospital is on.

I kayak that river as much as I can. When the river is above 250cfs you can run it without scraping bottom too much. When it's between 400cfs and 600cfs it's a wild ride. I've never dared to do it over 600cfs because the water level in some places makes it tough to get under the bridges.

Great river to ride!

Sapere aude.

Audeamus.

When you cannot measure, your knowledge is meager and unsatisfactory.
