2017 Pheasant Allocation, Pa.

It is still a lot of birds, about 170,000 but that's actually down from last years 220,000. This year is the first year that a permit is needed to hunt pheasants in Pa., so they'll probably be less hunters pursuing them.

We really enjoy pheasant hunting in Pa. and always schedule a few vacation days for it. We still even manage a few wild birds a year. Yes there ARE some decent areas relatively close by!

This is interesting news.

I am thinking of getting a Pensy licence this year for the flintlock only season.

I can hunt pheasants and scout for flintlock season at the same time.

What is the licence renewal year for PA? NJ is Dec 31. NY is Sept to Sept.

I have heard PA licence is from date of purchase to date of purchase. Is that true?

Does PA have Sunday hunting?

The licenses are based on the hunting season year .... July to July.

No Sunday hunting, yet (just crows, etc).    Continuing, interesting debate in Pennsylvania on Sunday hunting.

The state just recently started putting birds on the SGL right close to the little place I own in Huntingdon County. The area was never good for pheasants ....mountainous, recovering mining and timbering land .... but the regrowth is now holding birds over. So, they are definitely adaptable, if given the proper chance.
