For all the saltwater fishermen out there, Dick's has a 20% sale going on for Gulp. They had a good supply of mullets (4", 5", 6") and some 6" grubs. It comes out to $5.19 a pack and if you use the $10 coupon in the fishing compendium you'll save a little more. I had some gift certs and coupons to burn on top of it. If you don't have a Dick's CC, you can sign up and I think get another 20% off.

So hunters are still willing to support dicks sorting goods even though they left us high and dry.

I find it interesting.

I'm not even sure what the latest is with Dick's Sporting Goods in respect to firearms.

Personally, I've never purchased a firearm from them.

In fact, I've never even looked (hands on) at a gun there.

This is the last I could find from back in December 2012:

Here's the official statement from Dick's this morning.

"We are extremely saddened by the unspeakable tragedy that occurred last week in Newtown, CT, and our hearts go out to the victims and their families, and to the entire community. Out of respect for the victims and their families, during this time of national mourning we have removed all guns from sale and from display in our store nearest to Newtown and suspended the sale of modern sporting rifles in all of our stores chainwide. We continue to extend our deepest sympathies to those affected by this terrible tragedy."

So they initially removed all guns?

Now their guns are back on the shelf and selling (I saw two people buying/evaluating yesterday while I was there).

But they aren't stocking semi-automatic firearms any longer?

I couldn't find much on their site, or in any of their press releases regarding their position or product supply details.

In any event, I don't support any infringement on anyone's constitutional rights, nor those whom attempt to impede on them. But if you were to extrapolate your (assumed) belief above (in respect to Dick's Sporting Goods)...why are any of us living here in NJ then? Why are we supporting this state through taxation income/revenue when it essentially infringes on those rights more than most every other state out there?

It could also be argued, while they left some gun owners high and dry (pretty much a staple in this state as it is anyway, and not really surprising), they are helping fishermen by offering discounted prices on selective gear.

You can try and spin it however you want. The truth is Dicks sporting goods implemented their own infringement on gun rights before the situation in CT. By requiring everyone who purchases ammo to have a NJFID, yes even shotgun ammo, you can look up the threads on here.

THEN, after CT, they stiffed Troy Firearms by pulling AR's off their shelves, and not selling any guns. I tried to purchase in PA, and my cousin in NJ. They made up excuses as to why they could not sell guns.

Dicks Sporting Goods doesn't deserve a sportsman's money. If people continue to rationalize away what they believe then you will keep getting what you have in NY, CT, CA, and NJ everywhere. There are complaints constantly about NJ. If half the sportsman in NJ went to other states to see how the free live maybe then you would work for change.

I used to spend money there for hunting supplies as well. The time has come for fishermen, hunters and shooters to unite and let Dicks know what they have done and how they conduct their business will is not acceptable. NOW, do they have a right to conduct their business that way, yep.

You can also spend you money wherever you want, but to openly support Dicks sporting goods, well that is something different. By you spending your dollar there what you are saying is in fact I support your business and how you conduct your business and am allowing you to do so by spending money.

There are threads all over the internet explaining how dicks sporting goods failed the 2nd amendment and RTKBA (Right to keep and bear arms).

There are plenty of other places that support all of us. Maybe spend your money there where they may not cave to political pressure.
