BHC Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 The 935 is one of the semi-autos on my short list, will be used for turkey hunting only. From what I have been reading the only problems people have with them are with light 2-3/4" shells seems it's like 50% are people are having a problem more so with the older model years, but when it comes to 3" or 3.5" shells no problems at all, they all say the gun patterns great. The price seems great !!!! The Brownings, Winchester SX3, and similar guns are very expensive for something I will use a few times per spring. Just like to know from anyone on here who owns or have owned a 935 what you like/dislike about it. Thank you
stiks Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 I have one and love it, I use it for turkey with the red dot and choke. And in the fall it is my waterfall gun. I never had a problem with it , But never shot 2 3/4 out of either Redneck's Pride staffer Have climber will travel
BHC Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 stiks thanks for the reply, I won't use 2-3/4" in it. For turkey hunting what choke, and shells are you using? I known the barrel of the 935 is similar to the 835 for which I own, in that I'm using a Indian Creek Choke and as far as shells I'm using are: HeviShot 13, 3.5", 2.25oz, #5 & #6, or Winchester Sup. HV, 3.5", 2oz., #5 all three shoot very similar
BHC Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 Cabelas had one on the used gun rack, but they wanted $550 I think to expensive for a used one, the gun counter was so busy but I didn't see one 935 new. I just emailed Cabelas special orders dept. for a price. Only reason I'm going thru them is I have $775 in gift cards. The Winchester SX3 is one hell of a nice shotgun and shouldered great, but the price is outrages !!!
BHC Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 I was talking to Clark Bush over at : allaboutshooting.com he loves the Mossberg 935. Clark is very well known in the turkey hunting/shooting world
sussexcohunter Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 i have a 935 and have experienced problems with the gun not throwing the shell totally out with both buckshot and turkey loads twice out of maybe 10 shots. patterns really well but after it has it done that it hards to trust it giving me a second shot.
BHC Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 sussexcohunter, how old is your 935? from what I also was reading seems like the jams are from older models, improvements have been made by Mossberg on the jam issues
Tika270 Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 My 935 says 3"-31/2" only. It works great with 3" & up waterfowl loads. D-D... Nothing like a warm barrel. Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.
sussexcohunter Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 i believe its like at least 5 years old...glad there have been improvements to the gun but would like to hear they knew of a fix for the gun i own already. would like to know everytime i shoot it will eject the shell.
BHC Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 sussex, contact Mossberg maybe they will fix it for free
jgripp13 Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 I have one and love it. No problems. Bought it new on gunbroker. I got the deer and turkey combo in mossy oak for $550. Comes with turkey barrel and rifled barrel. Used turkey barrel with full choke for duck hunting and works great. Mod choke for buck shot. Barrel is over bored from 12 ga to 10 ga. So u gotta use the right chokes. Came with turkey choke also.
