Highguy Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I am planning on taking a turkey this season with a bow using a new broadhead called the Trauma made by Dead Ringer. http://www.deadringerhunting.com This head can be adjusted from 2 1/2" cut to 3 1/8" cut This head is designed for a body shot and not to cut off the head as some other broadheads are designed. I can't see any turkey walking away after taking a hit from this broadhead.
hammer08 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Thats a big blade alright but shot placement is still key...turkeys vital zone is very small Freedom is a light for which many men have died in darkness
Highguy Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 Is there a practice head? Not at the moment but they do in fact fly like a field tip. They have also been tested being shot at 400fps with out opening in filght but always opening on impact.
PREZ Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Looks just like a Vortex Pro Solid...same design and even the same color. Vortex has 2 1/2" cutting diameter. The Vortex blades have tabs on them to make sure they open.
hunterbob1 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I'm always a little leery when they go that wide. In engineering anything, you learn that everything is a trade off. To go that wide, you need to make the blades thinner which can also mean weaker if you hit a rib or shoulder going in. Also, with any mechanical broadhead, there are more chances of things going wrong over fixed heads. Let us know if you like them next fall. http://www.njfng.com/forum/thread-anyone-hear-of-the-newest-devastating-broadhead The cat is finally getting outta the bag. Thanks to highguy an rugerman270, theres proof these are gonna be droppin a lot deer next season. http://www.newjerseyhunter.com/forums/78-turkey-action/144940-my-broadhead-up-coming-turkey-season-trauma.html “In a civilized and cultivated country, wild animals only continue to exist at all when preserved by sportsmen.” -Theodore Roosevelt

I understand your concerns but you probably don't know how these new broadhead are made. The ferules are made of aircraft grade aluminum, the tips are case hardened steel trocar tips and the blades are made not of just 0.32 stainless steel but instead are made from 0.30 stainless spring steel which has a tensile strength of 180,000psi making them considerably stronger than the blades on other broadheads. I think you will be amazed at the strength of these heads.
BowhunterNJ Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Woohaa, that's WIDE! Like you said, I can't see a turkey walking away from getting hit by that either! Nasty looking!
PREZ Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 That's a one and done head.....just lik the Vortex. Aluminum ferrile will bend. The longer the blade, the longer the ferrile, the longer the ferrile the more in bends.
Cousin Brown Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Here is the blood trail from the broad head. It was set on 2 1/2" . I can say this is not a "one & done" broad head. After the pass through on the deer it bounce of hard ground/rock & embedded into shale. It was still straight & razor sharp. It is built very solid. Just like any other broad head , if you hit an solid object just right it could bend or break. The flight was great hitting right where the field tips shot. I am very impressed so far , I will be using it on turkey & the next deer season. Treestands don't demand, treestands don't complain, treestands simply ask me to sit down and listen.
