CJ3a Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Thinking about getting a new slug gun. Having a hard time warming up to the savage with the plastic stock. I am looking at this one http://www.luxusarms.com/ The 20 gauge is not listed but the owner says he has a few barrels in stock. Not sure about going to a single shot but they sure do look nice. I spent most of my money on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.
outdrdave Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 That's a nice one.. a little pricey. You could buy the savage and get a custom stock for it.
BowhunterNJ Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Yeah definitely on the pricey side, but beautiful looking guns. It all boils down to what you're looking for in a gun. Never heard of Luxus Arms myself, how did you come across them?
CJ3a Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 I am a member of accurate reloading. The owner is active poster selling walnut blanks at first and then single shots. He also sells some wild walnut blanks for the TC encore. I spent most of my money on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.
BHC Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 The Savage I agree the stock is toy-like, but it is one hell of a tack driver
Spent Brass Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 You could check out the Browning bolt only comes in 12 guage.IMO if I was going to spend $3500 on a slug gun it would be a Tar Hunter. Hunting and fishing is not a sport to me its a way of life:rock:
CJ3a Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 I like the Tar-hunt but I want a 20 in left hand. Savage seems to be the only one that caters to the lefty. I spent most of my money on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.
Liv2hunt Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I have an 870 in 12 and 20 gauge they are both great shooters I Just want to Hunt...
rossbowhunter Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 that gun is expensive, and to each there own, but an H&R is inexpensive and is very accurate. I just picked one up at cabelas.......and I love it. Paul M. Ross REALTOR Coldwell Banker Sales Associate 908-943-8842 PAUL THE PAINTER INTERIOR PAINTING HUNTERDON/WARREN COUNTIES 908-943-8842
IthacaDS3 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I'm a lefty too and in case you didnt guess by my screen name, I have an Ithaca Deerslayer 3. Ithaca's are lefty friendly because they eject shells from the bottom of the gun. I got mine with a left handed thumb hole stock too. Also, you can get the DS3 in either a 12 or 20 gauge. They're relatively expensive but nothing like a Tarhunt or the gun pictured above.
BHC Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 I have yet to find or see a factory shotgun out shoot a Savage, for roughly $500 (depending on what finish) it is well worth it, get yourself a good glass, Leupold or Zeiss and your good to go....Seems like the majority of them like the Remington Accu-Tips 3"
Spent Brass Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Haha I will put my Mossberg 695 up against any savage and I only paid $300 for it. Hunting and fishing is not a sport to me its a way of life:rock:
CJ3a Posted March 26, 2013 Author Posted March 26, 2013 I have a Ithaca 12 now. A model 87 when they were in limbo with owners. I will pass on the H&R don't like the workmanship and to many reports of miss fires. I spent most of my money on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.
remingtonman1108 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 I love my H&R Ultra Slug Hunter. Absolute tack driver and joy to shoot. Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk HD
BHC Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 I have the Ultra Deluxe and agree nice gun to shoot a tack driver, my Savage is a tad better
