BHC Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 If you use a semi-auto shotgun for turkey hunting, what do you use and what is your set up?
2Barrel Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Im using a Remington 11-87 and using 3.5 inch Winchester Xtended range # 5s with A Primos jellyhead choke tube. Plain ole bead sight. Never needed more than that. Hand Turned Pot Calls and All Wood Grunt Tubes. https://www.facebook.com/KobleCalls
Spent Brass Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Browning Gold 10 g with 26" barrel for turkey and a 32" for goose never took my 1187 out for turkey but it would do the.job no doubt Hunting and fishing is not a sport to me its a way of life:rock:
Nomad Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Rem 1100 3" Mag, 30" full choke barrel, bought in the early 80's. Shoot lead #4 turkey loads or 4x6 duplex. It stove pipes about half the time, so I make the first shot count!
MarkMartinFan Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Ithaca Mag 10 (ithagun) with a 32" extra full choke. I use 3 1/2" copper coated 4x6's. any turkey that makes the mistake of getting within 50 yards is knocked off his feet.
Nomad Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I really like the dependability of pumps. Never had a semi auto that didn't jam from time to time. Maybe the new ones are better?
Cousin Brown Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 11-87 SPS 3.5" 12ga. Mine is about 12 years old now. Excellent gun, never had a problem. Treestands don't demand, treestands don't complain, treestands simply ask me to sit down and listen.
Spent Brass Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I have put over 1500 rounds through my Browning gold and never had a jam or feed failure. My 1100 had one problem and my 1187 only have problems with Target loads.so I say autoloaders that I have are pretty reliable. My father had a 1187 that he bought the same day as me that is nothing but problems haha go figure Hunting and fishing is not a sport to me its a way of life:rock:
BHC Posted March 19, 2013 Author Posted March 19, 2013 I got two 11-87 slug guns, a 12ga & 20ga, only problem I had was with the 12ga when I first got it, the rubber "O" ring needed to be replaced, after that never a problem
gobblergetter Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Browning Gold 3.5 12 Ga. Never a problem....Brenda also shoots a Browning Gold 3" 20 Ga. No problems with either
sam3 Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Browning Gold 3.5 12 Ga. Never a problem....Brenda also shoots a Browning Gold 3" 20 Ga. No problems with either That's exactly what I was going to buy, but Rich Peter showed me the Winchester Super X2. Winchester used Brownings patent for the action, it's exactly the same and was a little cheaper. I bought the Winchester Super X2 3.5 and I'm real happy with it.
Cousin Brown Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Great gun that Winchester X2. Treestands don't demand, treestands don't complain, treestands simply ask me to sit down and listen.
