Are there different species of snappers in nj. What I have in my like looks very different. They have this beak face

This one has a beak but because of its size it's not as pronounced. This turtle easily pushed 30lbs she was huge

I have some monsters on my lake, it makes your actually big turtle tiny.

There is an alligator snapper.  Shell has more ridges on it.  Bigger turtle.  Think they are mostly down south.  There are differences between the common snapper.  I think it's mostly due to age.  Shells seem to smooth out more as they age

Great shots but I don’t think this is an alligator snappers. In fact I don’t think there are any in NJ.
