Raritan last night

After fishing the Hudson all during the week with no luck, decided to head to the raritan for the incoming and high tide last night. Brought a friend of mine who had just gotten into fishing last year, never caught a striper or any decent fish. Found a new spot that I had heard about and set up. Within ten minutes my rod doubled over, first bluefish on, and my PB at 37". Lost another maybe 20 mins later that chomped through the rig. The sun set and exactly at peak high, my buddy was locked on. The way this bass fought, I thought for sure it was gonna be another gator blue. Tried to get an action shot but it didn't come out great. I coached him through it and he landed his first striper and biggest fish ever at 30" (lol not bad for a first striper though). I picked away at a few more blues and we called it a night. All fish were released and swam off strong.
