I know penn isn't what they use to be but what are your opinions on the Battle series reel? This is there " I'm sorry" reel. Defiantly better built than previous models in the price range. I'm tempted to get a couple to try out on some stripers.

I bought the Battle 2000 last year for something to throw into my kayak, but haven't had the chance to fish it just yet.

All in all, it seems to be a well made reel. Fairly smooth, some nice features for the price. Online reviews are usually good for this reel in it's price range.

i have a battle 4k for fluke and schoolies and a 6k for the bigger girls...2 seasons on em now and still working great

I beat the crap out of my 4000 last year striper fishing and it took everything I threw at it and didn't blow up yet.what more can you ask for at a hundred bucks.

theyre junk! penn still hasnt figured out how to make a bail that doesnt break.you can buy a shimano spheros for the same price.
