Cousin Brown Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 What knot do you guys like using when connecting braid to a mono leader? Treestands don't demand, treestands don't complain, treestands simply ask me to sit down and listen.
hunterbob1 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 What knot do you guys like using when connecting braid to a mono leader? definently the double uni knot! “In a civilized and cultivated country, wild animals only continue to exist at all when preserved by sportsmen.” -Theodore Roosevelt
BowTechExperience Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Absolutely the double uni knot.... I've never had one fail yet.... I use it mono to braid, Fluorocarbon to braid. Never any slippage.
BowhunterNJ Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I like the albright knot for heavier braid and mono joins, I find it can slip when you're working with really thing diameter and slick coated braids. Uni to uni is probably a better option in those cases.
Chris Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Double uni is certainly nice. I also use the triple surgeons knot. Mark Nichols from DOA taught me that while he schooled me on trout fishing down in FL. He liked the triple surgeons because it held just as good as the others but was very very simple and after a little practice you can tie it with your eyes closed. His theory was every hlf second you can save by doing simple things quickly is more time your lure is in the water. If I am rigging things up at home I sometimes use the double uni (just to make sure I can still tie it), but on the boat I am use tripple surgeon all day long. Times like these call for a Big Lebowski
hunterbob1 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Thanks Chris, a time saver when the bites on good point. uni's pretty though,i know,i know doesn't catch fish diff.lol http://www.netknots.com/fishing_knots/double-uni-knot/ http://www.animatedknots.com/surgeonsjoin/index.php “In a civilized and cultivated country, wild animals only continue to exist at all when preserved by sportsmen.” -Theodore Roosevelt
