PV216 Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 I just saw a sign at radio shack yesterday that said phone screen repairs. I think it was around 60$ . Not sure if anyone else does them or if maybe your insurance covers it. "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Thomas Jefferson
Hetley75 Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Go to apple. Might cost you 100 dollars but they will replace your phone. When did you get it? Come up with a good excuse they may give you one free. A buddy of mine got one free by calling and complaining. Do yourself a favor but an otter box
Jeff M Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 thanks for the response guys..yea the otter box is a no doubter after i get it fixed or a new one..phone got ran over..i got the phone about 5 months ago..i think the insurance will give me a hard time so I was just going to try to replace the screen..everything else has been working fine Hey, I once got handed down underwear and a paperclip for Christmas, and it was a great gift. - Si
BowhunterNJ Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 There's usually places in the mall that can do it as well, some of those kiosks. A few friends have had them replaced. Good luck, and yeah...definitely case it up next time...you can't expect to hit Lou over the head with it and not have it crack at some point!
GunDogs Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Insurance with Verizon is a flat $50 fee to replace for any reason whatsoever. I lost my phone hunting at Clinton and in 3 days had it replaced under the policy with no issues.
remingtonman1108 Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Bridgewater Mall I think has one of those screen fix places
rec913 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I agree with getting the otter box i have droped mine a few times and nothing went wrong with the phone. you ca get them on ebay or amizon for a decent price
Haskell_Hunter Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 The tricky part are the screws on that phone. I think they are pentalobe screws. I have the tools to open most everything electronic including a driver set to open iPhones. Tools http://www.ifixit.com/iPhone-Parts/iPhone-5-Liberation-Kit/IF118-023 Front screen http://www.ifixit.com/iPhone-Parts/iPhone-5-Display-Assembly/IF118-000 Good DIY video Complete set of tools http://www.ifixit.com/Tools/54-Bit-Driver-Kit/IF145-022 http://www.ifixit.com/Tools/Pro-Tech-Toolkit/IF145-072 Front screens are really expensive, and the iPhone 5 parts cost a premium. You might do well on eBay getting parts. I usually pay a couple of bucks extra and get them from people I've done business with before. Sapere aude. Audeamus. When you cannot measure, your knowledge is meager and unsatisfactory.
