Almost had a 51 three years ago,was on a charter and we jiged most of the day with little to show for it.The call was made to start trolling and we picked a few fish nothing special.Around 1 everyone starts to eat lunch and the starbordside rod bends to the water almost.I run over and pull the rod from the rigger and yell to a guy that was here from Cali to come reel this fish in being he had never caught a striper.Little did I know that it would weigh out at 51 pounds 49.5 inches.Talk about feeling like I was kicked in the balls haha but also felt good to see the guy land such a beautiful fish as his first one.He will be hooked for life and have a hell of a story to tell when he gets home.

Hunting and fishing is not a sport to me its a way of life:rock:

Last year I experienced the blitz of all blitzes.

it was a rolling wave of fish crushing bunker, and moving up the coast. We must have covered 5 or 6 miles just chasing the school. they were all sizeable, with three being over 50#. few miles off of long branch.

I haven't broken 10#
You say that like if we all catch 10 pounders all the time. :D

I know you have a few 9's too, right?

My biggest fluke was a 6lb. Bass 37lbs.

Red,

Yeah a bunch of 9s...really a ridiculous number without breaking 10 at some point :)

Were you  during those trips? :D

68Ioweu1,

Those blitzes are crazy fun. I've seen some sick ones up off Asbury, like a square mile+ of bowling ball explosions everywhere...thresher tails slicing through, just all out craziness and purely awesome!

I have had 2 over fifty. one was 52 , the other 54. weighed , pics and released to fight another day.

Have had a few over 50 on charters, but ALOT more in the 46 -48 pound range.

wont be long till we are fishing for those big bass.

Wanna increase your odds on catching your own PB striper, throw pencil poppers on the edges of the big bunker schools this spring. The biggest fish of the year almost Always come on them, not on a livie

Best bass I ever had was a 57.7 lbs. It measured 57" long. I snagged a bunker & the bad boy inhaled it. I'll post a pic when I find it.

Treestands don't demand, treestands don't complain, treestands simply ask me to sit down and listen.

I firmly believe the newest world record striper will be caught off the jersey coast very soon. A lot of big girls out there.

My personal best was a 38 lber on the Delaware river...Im breaking 40 on the river this april....
