Seems a bit early for them, around by me we don't see stones till march, however, two weeks ago blue wing olives or they looked like olives were hatching on the pequest.

yes Bwos are first then stone Flys Salmon river usually gets stones around April right around the steelies spawn

Right on time for NJ. Little brown and little black stoneflies. Our winter midge hatches have been strong this winter. Show me a warming day and I'll show you rising trout.

The last year or so, I have been fishing partridge 2mm tippet rings to rig my dropper while nymph fishing. I really like fishing w them. You ever try them? Your thoughts?? Edited February 12, 2017 by nmc02

I've never used tippet rings myself.  But the many friends I have that do use them all seem to like them for what it's worth.  Since I don't have to buy leaders, tippet, etc., I get lazy and just run through them without worrying about saving a bit of line here and there.  Perks of being in the business, I guess.  I'm also a bit set in my ways as I've been fly fishing for 45 years this year since back when I was 7 and my dad taught me.  What surprised me was when my friends said the tippet rings don't drag down their dry flies, not even the smaller ones.
