Welcome to the 1st annual NJFNG Spring Turkey Contest - 2013!!!!

 

Birds taken in NJ as well as NY & PA will be accepted in this contest.

 

The contest will run the entire length of the NJ season.

 

One bird per contestant. This bird may be upgraded to a bigger bird an unlimited number of times throughout the contest dates.

 

Please indicate if you are a "Youth" (16 and under). If there is enough youths, we will create their own contest. If not, a youth will be added to each team.

 

Youth Day is April 20th, so the contest will begin on that day (assuming youths are involved, which I hope they are).

 

The contest will end on May 25th, no birds will be allowed entry after this date. (I understand the PA and NY seasons run longer, but to keep it fair for us NJ hunters that have to pay out the nose for permits every week, we will end the contest 1 day after our season is over).

 

What we need from you:

 

- Team name

- NWTF score

- Upgrading bird - yes/no

 

- A picture of YOU WITH THE BIRD!

- A picture of the possesion seal (for PA and NY, a filled out tag will suffice).

- A picture of the check station sheet with measurements clearly visible.

OR

-Images of you taking these measurements if a sheet is not available or applicable.

 

 

For now, we just need a running list of everyone interested in participating. Don't worry if you're the greatest turkey hunter, or if you don't even know what one looks like. It's a fun contest and you can't win it, if you ain't in it!

I should add:

 

Sign ups will be CLOSED on April 6th, which is also Opening day of Trout Season. (that makes it easy to remember) gives us time to sort out teams and allows some time to "trash talk" the other teams.

Tim, not sure yet. I think it will be just for bragging rights for now. I thought about a fee, but I'm just not sure. Especially with trying to implement two other states.

I would sign up but can't hunt if I don't pull e- weeks just started a new job and can't take time off till August.

To be quite honest, I don't think I stand much chance at winning it.

First of all..there ain't many Birds around this area of the state (bad hatches, coyotes, bobcats, etc.)

And think about it for a minute...ANYONE that kills lots of birds every year, Isn't gonna have Old, Long spurred Gobblers. And it's the spur lenght that adds up the over all score, As it should.
