Best February ever

Lou

Recommended Posts

I hunt along the Delaware River. A 26 mile stretch that runs from Blairstown in the south to Montague in the north.

In the 40 years that I have been hunting here this has been the best February for pheasants.

Monday 2/6 we got a hen, Wed. 2/8 we got a cockbird and Fri. 2/10 we got this hen.

It did take 6 hours to get just one point, but that's what makes it so special.

What make SxS, gauge, shot size & chokes are you using?

Francotte feather light.

Belgian made in 1899.

12 gage, 2-1/2" chamber weighs 5.9 lbs.

26" barrel, choked .05 skeet and .10 Improved Cylinder.

I mail order the the shells from RST #6.

Awesome Lou, hunting that long to find a bird is the definition of "hunting". Most guys that hunt wma's would never last that long cause they're accustomed to "shooting". Great job again Duke

It is all Duke.

It's his drive, enthusiasm and no quite attitude that keeps me energized.

I have to give a thank you to his breeder, Steve Del Rossi.

Nice! I think the new pheasant allocation program spreading them out along the river and Old Mine Rd this past season was a good idea. Several times my son and I limited out without dogs along the river and saw only a few guys, especially during the week.
