Slip. Pro-easy access, quick. Con-more expensive.

Rack. Pro-cheaper. Con-need to call and hope someone is available to put boat in water, when you want.

I don't even own a boat, but would prefer to go to slip on a whim and fish.

I tried a the rack thing the first year and it kinda sucked. If you want to go down and work on the boat ya got to call, want to run out for a hour on a whim gotta call, want to get out early and its busy have to wait.Just some of my experiences. The pro not to much seagull shit on the boat

Hunting and fishing is not a sport to me its a way of life:rock:

I'm not a boat owner, but I can totally understand the question you're asking.

Pros and Cons to each.

The other benefit of having your boat in a rack is that it isn't sitting in salt water all day and night (less cleaning, less built up, less barnacles [perhaps an extreme issue depending on your hull], etc). The only thing you really give up is that "get up and go" ability to fish on the fly. But if you're more of a scheduler, you can just call up and have it slipped in for you (I've seen the work in other marinas and they do a good job of it). The downside is if you plan on fishing sporadically, on the fly...get out of work and go...then you might not have time to schedule, and if some crazy night bass bite blows up and you want in on it with a few minutes notice...getting a racked boat in the water wouldn't be an option.

Good luck with whatever you decide!
