BHC Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Really thinking of either putting a suspension lift or a leveling kit, but I'm not accustom to either one. What are the pros and cons of each?
DBuck Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Quick google search.. quick answer http://lift.ezinemark.com/the-pros-and-cons-of-installing-a-lift-kit-321df3acb97.html
BHC Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 Thanks for the link, just want info so on Friday I will head over to OK4WD near me
Red Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Check out spacers first. I put a 2 inch lift with Bilstein 5100 shocks on my Grand Cherokee for under 500 bucks and I didn't have to alter anything on the car like brake lines or alignment ect... http://www.daystarweb.com/products.php
Rutting Buck Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Suspension lift is the way to go if you do a fair amount of off roading. The suspension lifts the entire vehicle higher off the ground. A body lift only lifts the body and does not give any additional ground clearance "Your short on ears and long on mouth"
Cousin Brown Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Just did a leveling kit on my 06 suburban. It came out good but wish I went with a lift. Treestands don't demand, treestands don't complain, treestands simply ask me to sit down and listen.
DuckSlayer424 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I have a 6" bds on my Cummins rolling on 37's and it's plenty
68Ioweu1 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 lol Nice yash, complete strangers ask you about a lift and your all helpful. I ask you and your like do it yourself. hey if you want to be a millionaire, become a doctor lawyer or an engineer.
PV216 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Depends on what rubber you're tryin to fit. If you're gonna do a lift, go suspension. But depending on what you have, you may only need a leveling kit. I have a F250 with a procomp 2inch leveling kit and I fit 34's with room to spare. Bowhunter2004 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I just put a leveling kit in my new dodge ram 1500,looks great, but I didn't want a real high jacked up look.
tcook8296 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 If you want to lift it up, go suspension. 2 " is ok for a little tire clearance but a 4 or 6" would be much more noticeable for the amount it will cost you. Do your home work and buy a quality lift kit or you will hate the ride. I bought my Silverado brand new with a 6" fabtech suspension,20" rims with 35 " Mickey Thompsons. Truck was lifted by American Luxury Coach and is covered under warranty. http://www.americanluxurycoach.com/ www.liftxrentals.com
JJoe Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 The suspension is the way to go... Tom, how are your Z92 decals holding up? I have one starting to peel already.. >>>>--------------------->>
ff5950 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Gotta remember the only way to truly lift a truck is to increase the clearance from the pumpkin to the ground. All the giant suspension lifts look pretty and allow for alot of flex but the real pro is the space for bigger tires. Leveling kits look good and give a truck a nice stance untill you throw a trailer on the back. Anything but a body lift in my book. I hate when people take nice trucks and throw a body lift on them making them look stupid and exsposing the frame. Almost as much as putting ladder bars on a 4 inch lift. Courage can''t see around corners, but goes around them anyway. [/b]
IanB21 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 every truck i buy gets lifted. once you put a leveling kit on you will wanna go higher. if you put 2" of lift you will wanna go higher. i did 11" on my excursion and 6" on my f350 HVAC Solutions Heating & Cooling https://www.facebook.com/solutionsforHVAC
