TDaly25 Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Everyone knows I love all my guns as much as the next guy but this video is referencing a state department document that was produced in 1961. Not saying our freedoms are not at risk in any way, just suggesting that listening to the detail of what is being discussed and filtering out what really warrants your time and attention are important considerations in this day of information overload. GhostBear Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Tom, the U.N. arms treaty mirrors that document, almost completely. There was no doubt that the policy after Katrina was tho disarm the public and leave them defenceless, and they did just that. There is no doubt that that is the plan now, why do you think they have only gone after lawful citizens and not criminals? Hunt with a Vizsla, cause life's to short to hunt with an ugly dog! RIP Tilly monster. (Attila) 2004-2017.

Kind of makes you wonder, with Homeland Security buying all the ammo and such. I dont doubt the UN's dubious intentions - they are about the most fervently anti-American body out there. Realistically, I couldnt see the UN being able to exercise its will here. Maybe its just hopeful thinking, but I feel there are too many courts and politicians in the way of this happening. Not that I dont hate both, however........ Excellence, in anything, never occurs by chanceAchieving perfection is impossible. Striving for perfection makes greatness achievable.
GhostBear Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I wouldn't put it past Obama to " Request U.N. aid" should they pass the fiendstein AWB. Just look at what that bill outlaws? Over 80% of firearms currently legal, it would leave lawful citizens the odd bolt action or pump and lever guns so long as they hold only 5 rounds. Why do you think they left those out? So they can claim that they are not trying to repeal the 2nd amendment and say " look! We let you keep guns, what are you crying about?" this will get a lot worse before it gets better, if it ever does get any better. Hunt with a Vizsla, cause life's to short to hunt with an ugly dog! Bucksnbows Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Sorry gang, but I have to laugh here. I know our 2nd Amendment rights are under attack right now, but to fear the UN troops kicking in your door to take your weapons when they couldn't collectively take on the island nation of Guam is just silly. Worse, it makes some of you look like far right wing fringe loons. I say that as a staunch conservative, BTW. When we begin to openly discuss conspiracy theories as if they were imminent, we lose all credibility with the average American who is center-right. Right now the battle is for the hearts and minds of the average American that does not own guns. Forget those on the left that want our guns, we know we can't win them over. Focus on those that are capable of understanding our Constitution and what it means to be a legal gun owner. There's no way on God's green earth that UN troops are coming to our shores to take on armed US citizenry. https://www.troutscapes.com/ https://nativefishcoalition.org/national-board

GhostBear Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 O.K., so just for the sake of argument, how do you think the government will go about enforcing the "AWB" should it pass? Now remember there will most likely be mass non-compliance, so they will have to come up with a way to confiscate weapons citizens who disobey. I hope cooler heads prevail in this the largest attempt to strip away our rights. Hunt with a Vizsla, cause life's to short to hunt with an ugly dog! RIP Tilly monster. (Attila) 2004-2017.

In addition to the House being controlled by the GOP, there are also a number of Dems that for different reasons remain pro gun. All this obviously makes the 2014 elections EXTREMELY important. GhostBear Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 They may drag this out till the mid terms in hopes of taking back both houses, and if they get all 3 branches of government no amount of letters or protest will stop the AWB from passing, and SCOTUS will up hold it like they did Obamacare. This fight is nowhere near over, in fact it just started, This will drag on for at least the next 2 years, and that is not a conspiracy theory, that's fact. Hunt with a Vizsla, cause life's to short to hunt with an ugly dog! RIP Tilly monster. (Attila) 2004-2017.

[/quote'] Fortunately, our Constitution is clear in this area and does not allow an international treaty to supercede it. Given that we have the 2nd Amendment on our side, we won't ever give up our guns. It really is that cut and dry. But nobody reads or learns about our Constitution anymore, so we get fear mongering like this out there. https://www.troutscapes.com/ https://nativefishcoalition.org/national-board
GhostBear Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Obamacare clealy violates the constitution, but it's still the law now isn't it? That pesky constitution thing never bothered him before, it won't bother him now. Besides, they are not going after the 2nd amendment, just "Evil guns" not all guns, so there is no violation except that infringement thing, which will be ignored in the Intrest of public safety. Either way we will see how this all unfolds. Hunt with a Vizsla, cause life's to short to hunt with an ugly dog! RIP Tilly monster. (Attila) 2004-2017.
