  1. Defiantly .50 cal for an M2. My question/concern if those rounds are 80 years old (by the look of the boxes in the back ground they probably are) is their stability. They appear to still be live.
  2. If anyone is looking for 30/06 dies for an RCBS reloader. Let me know. I have a set I don't need.
  3. Right hand. comes with arrow rest and peep $50.00 OBO
  4. I got tired of the inconsistences with pellets and decided to play around with granular powder. I experimented with Triple 7 and Pyrodex and was very happy with the results. From my TC Optima, using 85 grains of Pyrodex with a 240 grain cheap shot sabot; I kept a 5 shot group at almost one inch. At 75 yards 1.5 inches. My question is will 85 grains of powder provide enough power to ethically kill a deer out past 50-75 yards? I'm going to play around more with different charge loads after the season but don't want to mess with a good set up now. Normally I won't be shooting past 100 yards because not presented with many opportunities to shoot past that where I currently hunt; and most shots occur around 50-75 yards. But, I want to be able to reach out a little more if the opportunity presents itself. Thanks in advance
  5. Cleaning out some old gear and found these old sights I no longer use. Free to good home; but will need to pick them up of pay postage. I live in Middlesex County. Thanks! -Mike
  6. Found these the other day while going through some old archery equipment. Original Bear Broadheads bought them in late 1970's. Can't locate the inserts. Any collectors out there? Willing to discuss price.
  7. Only used one season. Open to discussion. Thanks.
  8. I remember in 8th grade I caught my first catfish (alone). Having never handled one I got stabbed in the hand and my entire arm swelled up for a day or two. Discovered pliers are a must when handling cats.
  9. Congrats!! Hope it's the first of many!
  10. I think in the long run EHD needs to be seen as a blessing in disguise. As much as no one wants to see a die off; it could end up being a lot worse if the deer become weakened by malnutrition and then we have a bad winter or drought. In my part of Middlesex county the browse line is above 6 feet because the deer are now standing on their hind legs to reach browse and they are resorting to eating "deer proof; plants in peoples yards. We've all gotten used to seeing lots of deer in the field in unnaturally large numbers. Don't get me wrong I LOVE the long seasons but the deer numbers need to be reduced to healthy levels even if it means a reduction in season lengths or bag limits. It would be nice if the quality vs. quantity debate could be truly visited ad understood. I have property in Chenango County, NY that I can count the different deer passing through my property on two hands. But, I harvested a 3 point (Think it was a four point that broke the tip off) that filled almost two 48 quart coolers when I picked it up from the butcher. I think that is what we should be hoping for. Fewer, healthier deer.
  11. Thank you for all the advice and encouragement. I did take my daughters fishing but they were 3 or 4 when I started them. I taught my grandson's aunt to fly fish when she was about 6. By the end of the fishing session she was giving me advice on how I might catch more fish (if I didn't have to unhook all the fish she was catching I would have done alright).
  12. Due to a lot of unfortunate circumstances, I find myself raising my 17 month of grandson at the ripe age of 58. This has put a huge dent in my outdoor time over the last year. So, I've decided that I need to make lemonade out of lemons. I'm going to start taking him fishing. I figure an all terrain/jogging stroller along the D & R Canal for starters. Maybe invest in a fishing back pack. What I'm curious is when did you start your kids actually fishing? My daughter (his aunt) started fishing when she was about 3 1/2. Do I wait that long? Or can I start with a small kiddie rod next spring (he'll be two in February). For now the stroller or back pack thing will work; but I know he'll get bored of that after a few trips and want to get out and move around. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.
  13. When a legal doc is amended any original text that is being deleted is in between the brackets. Underlined text is what is being added. In other text below is being deleted from the bill... I learned something new. Thanks!! -Mike
  14. For those breathing easy because deer and bear are not on the list, if you read the line before that Covered wildlife" means 1[all animal life existing in a wild state, or any part, product, egg, or offspring, or] a bobcat, coyote, crow, fox, mink, opossum, rabbit, raccoon, skunk, squirrel, weasel, woodchuck, or1 the dead body or parts 1[,]1 thereof 1[, except for fish, shellfish, mollusks, or crustaceans]1. As I interpret this "wild state" is any animal not domesticated. That's deer and bear. Not sure why they felt they had to enumerate certain species other than to lull us into relaxing.
