  1. I got the license the first two years it was out. Haven't since. If they aren't forcing it by fine, i don't waste my time. Entire fishery in the Delaware Bay fell apart. Boat sits home. But for the clamming and little fishing i still do, not bothering with it.
  2. I use quart bags. Buying in the roll, doubles the seals you will be doing. They do burn out after time. But the bigger issue is cool down between seals. If the strip is too hot, when you pull vacuum, you won't get the bag down all the way and the bag will start sealing. You will have to make your bags, let it cool down. Or make and vacuum as you go. Both a time consuming. I stopped buying rolls years ago. I grind by burger, weigh out in 1.25 meatballs. I put on a sheet and freeze overnight. Then bag and seal the next day. No blood to worry about in the seal
  3. I have killed fox and a coyote with the .17hmr. Once the coyotes showed up in bigger numbers i went to the .204 Ruger. The .17hmr is just limited on coyote. i have seen a lot of damage on red fox from the 22-250. Total waste of the pelt, if you are putting them up. We have a decent number of grey fox here. They also wouldn't handle the 22-250 well. I am happy with the .204
  4. Performance on the deer. They load easy and hit the paper with a pretty consistent pattern. I butcher my own deer. I see the jackets just under the hide on entry. Many times with the skirt still attached. Complete fragmentation. No exit, so you just have the higher entry hole for blood. Some say the entire energy dump was in the deer. But as posted by someone else, lead fragments all over. My best Powerbelt bullet was the all lead, no jacket 348gr bullets. I am a fan of the ELR. They like to be pushed. Over 100gr of powder. Not sure why, but i have seen a few posts about them liking the 120gr to 150 gr charges. So i went with the 120gr charge of loose powder.
  5. I am sponsored by CVA, and wouldn't shoot the Powerbelts. Too inconsistent on deer. I used them for over 10 years, probably 15 years. All different styles. I moved to TC Shockwave bullets for a number of years. Great bullet. I recommend to friends looking to get away from the Powerbelts. I received a new Accura MRX this past summer. They sent 330gr ELR .50cal bullets. I am impressed. Sighted at 100 yards, i have a 5" drop at 150 yards. using 120gr loose Pyrodex. Shot deer with it this winter. Impressive expansion. Great blood trails. My new go to bullet.
  6. Not sure of your age, but during the fur boom, it was like them. Not now. Unless you are on public grounds and new guys don't get it.
  7. Trappers are not like deer hunters. We do not intentionally set close to another trappers line. We reach out to each other when someone gains access to a property to see if someone is already there. I have come across trappers on my line. Most didn't know i was there, were teaching youth or didn't belong there.
  8. Yep. Gloucester County/Salem County border. I get a response around 1 in 10 sits. I have only killed coyotes from stands in the woods. Never a field set while on the ground. We need cold weather. When they are burning calories to keep warm, they will risk moving in for a look. With warm weather like this, i hardly ever get a response.
  9. I have one Booner 6 panel in south jersey. Two Booner 5 panel in maryland. Maveric is a sister company of Booner. I have three in south jersey. If you are in the south and want to see them, i can make that happen. They are a sponsor of mine for our TV show. Just to put that out there. But want to give an honest review. I have had the mavericks in south jersey for 4 years or so for my oldest. One for two years. After using a pop up for many years, these are so much better. These are not insulated panel blinds. They are single wall hard plastic, like a kayak. They do get sweaty when you come in hot from the walk in and turn on the propane heater. I use a rag to keep the window clear. Three of my Maverick blinds have tinted windows. You can dance around in there and they can't see. But, low light, i have a hard time also. Until the sun comes up. I have one clear window for my camera. That normally is just left open because of lens fog with the heater. I did make a half window i have to try. To keep the outside air on my camera lens. Propane heat just gives off moisture. Its a battle. We have had mavericks with 24" of snow on top in central NY state. They are strong. Just one seam. I have climbed on top to put the hardware in. Booner roof is a few panels. The 6 panel has aluminum flat bar in added to it. The 5 panel does not. In my 6 panel, i have clear windows. I use velcro discs to hold up landscape material on the windows not used. I fold up the fabric and use a clothes pin to hold it up to give me the lower half of the window to see out of. There is a lot more hardware to a Booner. Each panel requires hardware to connect to the next. The windows just have a small weather seal. They are not 100% waterproof. But, they are a whole lot nicer than a pop up with open windows.
