  3. Why do folks feel such a need to beat-up on EV technology. You do realize that you have been conditioned to hate EV technology by car manufacturers and oil companies for decades. There is a place for them now, and the technology will improve and mature over time. In the early years of EVs, they were often criticized for being underpowered and slow. Now, not the case at all; so some other "badness" has to be invented. Battery/raw material mining is destructive! More than 100 years of oil industry/wars/disasters/etc.? Doubtful.
  4. Very nice. If you haven't seen, wind chill was -108° up there last week.

    Bourbon

Blanton's is great. Used to be around $50 a bottle. Now, if you find it, expect to pay at least $150. Jefferson Ocean, I was given as a gift. It is just OK. Definitely not worth the price, and maybe a little bit gimmicky.

    Bourbon

And the MSRP for the same: 10 year - $69.99 12 year - $79.99 15 year - $119.99 Quote from a friend" A nice $50 bourbon served by a hot and friendly bartender is a better experience than a $1K bourbon drank alone."

    Bourbon

Woodford Reserve is a nice bourbon, found in just about every liquor store and at a good price. The market has become saturated with literally hundreds, if not thousands, of brands/varieties/versions. I see Blanton's going for +$150 these days, and its really sad. Another vote for the Spot's, Green, Red and Yellow. They are all good and smooth Irish Whiskeys. Not recommended for newer drinkers, but Wild Tukey Rare Breed does come in under your price limit and is very tasty and highly rated. It is barrel proof, which can be too much to some.
  8. Daily? Probably not. Aside from the State imposing a ton of restrictions, there are also several cities that feel that they can do the same. Basically telling you to carry at your own peril. At 50 years old, I can't think of a single time in my life that I would have needed a gun to shoot somebody. So, statistically, I should be good for the rest of my life. Of course, for my own peace of mind, I would feel more comfortable if I was carrying when running errands at off-times in off-places, hiking, etc..
  9. Thanks for the heads-up. Been using Nest smoke detectors for years, and although pricier than regular, not searching for the beep and built-in pathway lighting is money well spent.
  10. A bit of information about this. While I can't say that it is consistent throughout every county or even town, in my case, there was a difference between the standard Pistol/FID investigation and one for Permit to Carry. Without getting too detailed about it, I have an FID for many years and recently was approved for a few pistol permits. Everything came back clear. I applied for a Permit to Carry, and the police chief called and told me that they found something in the investigation that I would have to explain (an expunged juvenile incident from 35 years ago). He was surprised that it showed-up since he approved the other permits only a few days prior. So there is clearly something different here. My attorney advised to just keep the allow the application to move forward, unless I lived in Bergen county, in which case he would advise me to request a withdrawal.
  11. When I flip, I'll turn the burner off, wait a minute to allow the pan to cool a bit and drop in the butter. Once melted, tilt the pan a bit and spoon the hot butter over the meat. You could also add some herbs to the melted butter. For presentation, I like to get one side nice and charred, the other side just needs a little browning, so turning the burner off at the flip doesn't hurt none.
  12. I would do 132° for ~ 2 hours, and then a super high-temp sear in a cast iron or carbon steel pan for around 2-3 minutes a side. Don't forget to baste with some butter and rest it. There is no better way to cook temp. sensitive meats (game, salmon, pork, etc.) to a nice medium/medium rare.
  13. When I was first starting out bowhunting, I took a ride out to Wawayanda and tried my hand at still hunting. Well, I unknowingly walked onto someone's spot (he was in a ground blind and camo'ed up). I was still a teenager, and learning. The other hunter was not very polite, telling me that I ruined his hunt and that "walking around in the woods" was unacceptable. What I did learn from that experience, whether bumping into or being bumped; a simple smile and "how's it goin?" is the proper etiquette. Public land is public land. You don't like it, then go out and buy your own property to do with as you please. And while I purposely wouldn't walk thru or set-up in someone's immediate area, once the leaves fall, it's absolutely comical how many stands are in some NJ woods.
  14. You could extrapolate the load data from the Nosler site and either handload your own or use the services of a custom ammo loader (just google for one, there are a few out there). https://www.nosler.com/257-roberts
  15. Make no mistake, Philly is looking at national politics once his term is up. Notice the "more appealing" haircut? To allow a bear hunt on his watch would mean that he was wrong in cancelling it; won't happen. He'll take 10 maulings without blinking an eye.
