  1. Thanks all...that's what I thought.
  2. Hi folks, I'm sure there are a hundred different topics like this one...so let me add to the pile (pun intended). Is this horse or bear? It's quite a bit larger than it appears in the picture. I'm thinking bear but wanted to be sure.
  3. Hey Cory, just wanted to say that I got new cables and string from Andover and the guy, Rob couldn't be nicer. Thanks for the heads up
  4. Thanks! I actually did call Andover! i'm hoping that it will last me this Saturday without blowing up in my face and then i'll get it changed. Barnett is actually going to send me a cable slide.
  5. Once a year!? That's nuts! I'd get rid of the bow before I had to replace the cables once a year.
  6. i have a Barnett Wildcat c5 that I got last year. I took it out a month or so ago to make sure it was still sighted in and it's perfect. I just took it out yesterday to start getting stuff ready for Saturday and I noticed that the cable under the rail is frayed a little. seems like one strand came undone. After looking on line a bit I see that there is a cable slide that some bows didn't come with (like mine) that could prevent this. I wrote to Barnett and am waiting for my response. In the meantime, I think I'm going to have to get new cables...any suggestions for a shop to get them put on near Roxbury? Second question, with just one strand that seems frayed, am I doomed to miss opening day or do you think I can use the bow but just get the cable replaced as soon as possible?
  7. Just read this on the Daily Record...sorry for the loss of one of our hunting brothers.
  8. Hey folks... Anyone know of any bow shops near Succasunna?
  9. oh, and Matty...I shoot a biscuit, not a drop away.
  10. What started the let off was me...when I was holding, I suppose I relaxed a little. I kind of figured too that the nock unseated as well. I'll take a picture of the separation tonight and post it. Of course this happened days before the opener when there's no time to get anything done....thank you guys
  11. I was shooting this morning...drew back the bow and it started to let off (sometimes that happens). I pulled back again and when I released the bow made a strange slapping sound and the arrow was buried in the ground 10 feet in front of the target. The only thing I could imagine is when the bow let off prior to the shot, the arrow became partially detached from the string. I inspected the string and it SEEMS ok...other than there seems to be a...i don't know...what feels like a tiny gap in the serving below the loop. I don't know if I have time to bring it somewhere to get looked at before Saturday and even if I did, I couldn't imagine anyone would have time to look at it by Saturday...so it's either don't go, or hope it's ok and doesn't blow up in the tree on Saturday.
  12. Great pictures! Congratulations to your son!!
  13. After shooting my turkey yesterday, the two birds that came in with him decided to stay and make sure that he was dead.
