  1. How about try it from this angle. Look at the number of deer killed in Hunterdon County (easy enough to find on F&W site), find out how many deer are killed by vehicles, then add in the farmer permit kills, and add them all up. Then compare that number to how many deer you “think” are in the county, and I bet you’d find it’s impossible to reconcile both totals, because the total number of deer killed will likely be higher then the number of deer you think exist. Which would mean that every deer in the county is killed every season, which we all know is not possible, well, maybe in zone 5 it is!🤦‍♂️ You guys get all emotionally wrapped up in this conspiracy theory nonsense (maybe you’re CNN watchers?😁). The numbers are what they are, there’s decades of data to look at to actually see what’s going on, all you have to do is look at it with an open mind.
  2. Im not saying that, the survey results are. I’m just saying I hear this same nonsense all the time, believe what you want, but that’s why there’s still 90 deer a sq mile in Readington and Hunterdon County, you guys are in denial. That goes for the zone 5 science deniers as well!😉
  3. We’ll if you chose not to believe the science that’s up to you, but I would say it’s certainly more accurate then any field observations we make. Have you done any night time spotlight surveys, distance sampling, infrared drone surveys etc., of the farms you hunt on? If you hunt actual farms ( ag fields and crops), you’d be shocked if you saw all the deer that pile in at night but aren’t accessible to hunters in daylight on the same property (one of the reasons recreational hunting isn’t able to manage populations effectively) . This is something that is lost on a lot of you guys that claim your densities are not what the data shows, you’re assuming it’s the density that is available during hunting hours, which it is not. Nighttime after hunting hours are when the real Damage is done to ag fields, hence depredation permits.
  4. Sure it does, unless the entire county park system is fenced in. How do they monitor the density on the park properties? don’t just look at the chart, look at all the data. Oh yeah, if you’ve been hunting the same 5 miles for 50 years, you’re doing a terrible job of population control! 😜

  6. This is just one survey, there are others that show high density levels. You guys should do some research instead of thinking you know the deer numbers simply by what you see. 😉 Sorry entire study didn’t paste, Link to the full study is in next post.
  7. Successful in regards to hunter access yes, but there are still 85-90 deer per sq. mile, which is an abject failure in regards to deer density management. Recreational hunting will never be an effective management tool for so many reasons, it’s just a band aid, but if it allows hunters access I’m all for it, just don’t tell me “we” should/could manage the deer on large farms or acreage, we can’t.
  8. Worked in Penn Station for 40 years, ( I know, that doesn’t make me a food expert!😁), been to every place on/off Ferry St. over the years, Fornos would be my first stop for quality and service, especially for an occasion or a date. Adega had the best looking staff (😉) and bar, food good as well. There was a little local place off Ferry, way at the east end called Don Manuel’s, not sure if it’s still there, best Portuguese food I ever had, but that was a few years back at this point. Krugs is a must for an old time throwback feel tavern with one of the best burgers you’ll have in NJ, and the shrimp and roast beef is great as well.

Yeah that sucks for kids to have to think about that. I think that’s even worse than the under the desk nuclear bomb drills we had to do as kids in the 60s. That threat was a possible once in a lifetime situation from a foreign land, and it was a bit obscure. This is something they’ve seen many times at schools all around the country, has to be harder to deal with I would think .
  10. I get around the Clinton area, that’s about as far west I go typically.
  11. Unfortunately not anytime soon V.
