  1. I’m looking to ditch my $190 xfinity bill and go with just an internet provider and get a fire stick or other live streaming device, I’m not the least bit tech savvy and all this stuff is over my head. Basically I’m looking for a cheap internet provider and something I can watch hunting shows on and leave animal planet on all day for the dogs. From what I understand I can get a fire stick and a streaming service like gear tv for low monthly payments and pretty much have all the channels I do now with cable. The previous owners of the new house had fios and all the equipment is still installed so I’m thinking going that route. Any recommendations on a cheap internet provider and live streaming service? I’m hoping to cut my comcast bill in half, I can’t justify paying $190 a month for tv let alone the tv stays on the same 3 channels, outdoor network, sportsman and animal planet. Any info is appreciated
  2. Well I ended up relocating the furnace flue to the stairwell and opened up the whole corner, now just need to figure out a cheap stone face option
  3. Anyone do their own tick spraying for their yard? The ticks seem really bad this year, I’d like to spray roughly an acre out of the 4 that I have. Got a few quotes of $100-150 and has to be applied 4-5 times. I figure someone here knows what to use to do it cheaper
  4. Thanks for the replies, any other info? Anyone have trouble with homeowners insurance after installing a stove?
  5. Just bought a house that had a gas insert, I removed it and want to replace it with a wood stove... the flue for the furnace runs behind the wall so my 2 ideas are to leave the existing 45 wall and install the wood stove out in front and do a rock finish like a fireplace look which would take up a lot of room by the time I have the right clearances and the hearth or tear the wall down, build 2 walls to the corner to box in the furnace pipe and set the wood stove back farther. Anyone else have ideas? I don’t believe I could set the stove inside the cubby the way it is now because the clearance to the header wouldn’t be enough and it would hold a lot if heat and not be as efficient. I’m hoping to be able to remove the pipe from the gas fireplace and use that roof flange for the wood stove. I will be building a heat shield with a 1” air gap out of sheet metal and hardyback and finish it with a thin stone face. Ideally I’d like to keep the wall as is and maybe move the header up a few inches if need be and have the stove half in/half out the cubby so it’s not sticking way out into the living room but from everything I’ve read, you need to have minimum of 4-5’ clearance above the stove. Feel free to post pics of your setup. Also I’m alittle confused about the stove pipe, I need regular stove pipe from the stove to the attic into a support box then double wall pipe through the roof?
  6. Mine is this years 6-day buck, typical basket rack pine buck, I’ve killed roughly 10 good no bucks since I started hunting 12 years ago and they all are in the 80-100” range, we just don’t grow them like other parts of the state
  7. It’s time to retire my trusty Mathews switchback, I’m looking for a newer bow in the 5-700 price range used. Being left handed I’d have to drive to every bow shop in the state just to shoot a handful of bows so I’m hoping someone can recommend a forgiving, good shooting hunting bow
  8. Planning a little weekend camping trip this weekend, coming from south jersey, looking into the water gap area... Looking mainly for kayaking, fishing, waterfalls, pretty much new scenery... anyone recommend a campground or state park that is good and reasonable with the rules? I’d much rather pitch a tent away from anyone and be able to have some beers around the campfire without being harassed. It will be a group of about 6-8 guys and girls
  9. What huntable county do you guys think that has the best chance of harvesting a decent (125”) buck? I’ve only hunted Atlantic county, home of the scrubs and never killed a buck over 105” but after shed hunting some areas in Monmouth county, I’d say it has some dandy deer, Salem and Cumberland counties look good too but I have no experience with them.
  10. So I opened my venison freezer to remove some back straps and noticed the freezer was off.... I immediately started panicking thinking I just lost all my venison. The back straps were thawed completely but still felt cool. There’s roughly 60lbd of ground venison in the bottom and only the outer packages were thawed, all the packages in the middle were still frozen. I’m guessing the freezer was only off for 2-3 days and all the frozen food helped keep it cold. My question is would you guys throw out close to 100lbs of meat or is it ok to eat? I just sliced a back strap up and it looked fine but had a gamey smell which If I remember is normal. It doesn’t smell sour or any thing. Any other tricks to tell if it’s spoiled?
  11. I’ve been hanging stands, cutting trails, shooting lanes this past few weeks... just replaced cables for chains and new stainless bolts on 3 of my stands last night. Going to build another stand this weekend on my private piece. Yeah it’s hot and the mosquitos and flys tore me up but I rather do the hard work now than in a month when chiggers are in full force and I’m messing up my area too close to the season. In a week from now the only reason I’ll be in the woods is to check cameras and maybe a few last minute adjustments. This time of year I really start getting fired up, I can only fish for so long and I love seeing what the bucks are turning into
  12. Last week our dog was attacked by another dog, he is in high spirits but the vet bills are racking up fast, I’m in a rough situation, breaking my wrist 2 months ago and being out of work. I normally don’t ever ask for help but if you guys could just share my fiancé’s gofundme it would be greatly appreciated. To most he is just a little mutt but to us he is family and I’m trying everything I can to keep the vet bills under control until I go back to work, thank you https://www.facebook.com/donate/1398491676918283/
  13. I’m going up this week to check out that area you pointed me to, looks like a big piece I can get in deep, just was looking for more options
  14. I’ve hunted the pines, mainly zones 26,23,24,42 for 11 years now and the biggest buck I’ve ever seen was maybe 110”, I know there are some big ones around but few and far in between, plus I’d love to hunt those open hardwoods and creek bottoms farther north... just a change of scenery a few times a year
