Yeah, that's dumb I guess. But people are cutting off their son's d&cks and their daughter's breasts and getting applauded for it. So, this one isn't high on my list of getting worked up over.

My habitat improvements on my MD farm

Thanks. Some good ideas. The farm cost 365. I probably spent 10 for the trees and mulcher. Who knows about seed, lime, fertilizer etc... -
My habitat improvements on my MD farm

I did the same...we'll see how it goes..... -
I bought a farm in March of last year in the eastern shore of MD. I did a write up of my plans so far I wanted to share with this group. I've done a fair amount of NJ hunting but now I'm spending most of my time and efforts down there. Shout out to @Livesintrees who spent some time on DM with me. Maybe I'll update this periodically. That place is definitely keeping me busy...it's been fun. I'm wide open to any advice or comments as well.... This is the farm I purchased in March of 2021. I also bought a small house down the road. I've met all my neighbors and I spend about 1/2 my time down there (my job allows working from home for a few days a week so I spend those down in MD). I've met all the local hunters and established good relations with the adjoining properties. Trespassing is not an issue. Its roughly 95 acres with 60 acres in woods and 35 acres in fields. All of the fields have been farmed for as long as anyone in the area can remember by a local farmer under a lease arrangement. It has been in an annual rotation of corn and soybeans with no cover crop in between seasons. Last year it was in soybeans and once they were harvested all the fields were bare for the rest of the season. It’s a “wet farm” with a fair amount of standing water after rains which is managed to some degree by a network of drainage ditches throughout. The yellow lines are big open paths which are wide enough to fit heavy ag equipment through (probably 25 yards wide). I spent most of the rest of 2021 scouting and hunting on the property. It has a decent deer population as well as turkey, ducks, and geese (the latter two especially when water is standing which is most of the summer). Of course, there are plenty of squirrels and groundhogs and a few fox. I only hunt deer but I want the property to be a “wildlife sanctuary” for as many species as possible. As you can imagine, this is a heavy ag area with tons of crops on all sides. I saw a fair amount of deer during deer season and could have harvested a bunch of does and some younger bucks, but I was holding off for a mature buck and didn’t get a crack at one. I had some trail cam pics of some nice ones but my feeling was they were not living on my property and were just passing through. The only daytime pics I had of mature bucks was during the rut. After season ended, my feeling was that I didn’t need 35 acres of fields that were either bare or would have what every other property in the area had. I decided to try to increase bedding area and set up food plots that would have something other than corn and soybeans on the perimeter where I could access the property easily. One of the really nice things about this property is I have good access. My house is just down the road and my neighbors allow me to access the property through their land. Below shows my house, the surrounding area, and major access routes (green lines). I cancelled the existing farming lease. My current plan is to place food plots here (green). The blue lines are trees which I have already planted for screening. The black line is some annual screening I’m going to plant (whitetail institute “conceal” which I believe is mostly sunflowers…it is designed to grow tall to provide screening but not food). I did my soil testing and my soil was pretty beat up. Almost all the fields had PH’s around 5 with a shortage of N and K. I put down nearly two tons of lime per acre in all the food plots in January and February of 2022. In all the plots I’m planting buckwheat right now (May) mainly for soil building and weed control. I’m adding the recommended amounts of urea and potash. My plan is to seed my fall plot (broadcast) into the standing buckwheat and then roll the buckwheat over it and spray if necessary to terminate it. The buckwheat will provide cover for the fall plot and decay into the soil I’m not fully decided on what to plant in the fall, but annual rye is going to be a part of it to help build soil some more and cover the fields until next spring. The rye will be terminated in next spring to make room for the buckwheat and will build more soil over time. I’m also considering crimson clover and some brassicas. I’m going to see how the buckwheat does before I decide finally and I might get my soil re-tested and see how far the PH has moved. In order to improve bedding a bit, I did two main things. First, frost seeded switch grass into all the purple fields below. I didn’t cover the whole fields with switchgrass…I left a lot of spots to go fallow and hopefully grow some weeds and natural browse. My understanding is that switchgrass will take 2 years to get to full height but should provide good cover and more “edge” when combined with the fallow portions. I did not lime the switchgrass spots so we’ll see how it does. It could be total fail…we’ll see. I also planted a bunch of red osier dogwood clippings into the wet spots in these fields to hopefully serve as browse. The fields that remain uncolored are just being allowed go wild for now. I’m working with the state of MD to possibly just add trees or wildflowers there. I don’t think deer will bed that close to the road so just looking for general wildlife improvement and more screening there. The second thing I did was I brought in a forestry mulcher to clear out two big clearings in the woods and a path in between. He cleared two clearings of about 1 acre each. You can see the clearings in black below. My plan is not to put food plots in there, but rather to encourage natural browse growth by letting sunlight get to the ground and also to increase “edge” within the property. I went in and disced up the soil (and pushed the mulch to the side as best I could) to get some of the mulch out of the way…for now that’s all I[m going to do there. Finally, here are my current hunting stands. The ones in blue are up now, the ones in orange still need to be added: Here are some random photos: This is the main entrance before and after I installed the trees: Farming Hunting Stands/Mulcher/Dogwood Clippings

That worked. Thx

Yes. My desktop works but my android version behaves as you describe. Please post up if you get a fix.

Take a look at this guy. Do you think he just has shitty genetics? Or an injury? If it's just an injury, will he have a normal rack next year or will it always be messed up?
-
I've owned it. I sold it. I don't know....maybe 1 time it helped me get a buck...but it's cumbersome....I would say save your $s

Boy....that seems a bit cruel to create a monster like that. He probably can barely keep his head up. I also don't get why people would want to shoot one like that...it's not like anyone is going to think you shot it in the wild. But...its a free country.....or it used to be

Peeing is not an issue for me. Pooping...gotta climb down.

I forgot...I had an old thread on here on the JX-3.: https://www.njwoodsandwater.com/forums/topic/39107-jx-3-hybrid/?tab=comments#comment-549240 To answer your question above...I now use only 3 or 4 sticks when I'm going to a tree I have not pre-set (I have 5 in the pics in the thread above). You can use steps or bolts if you want also. Now..80% of the time I'm walking to a tree with a pre-set set of heavy metal sticks already on the tree.

Sure. I'll create a separate thread later today

I've used this for 3 years now and love it. It's not as weight / bulk saving as the minimalist saddles, but it's very comfortable and pretty versatile ( makes a good ground seat too). I posted a thread on saddlehunter about it (below). PM me if you have any questions. I hunt with a xbow out of it and a gun. I no longer use my climber nor my hang on (millenium m60). Even at my farm, I mostly just set up trees with pre-set sticks and still use my JX-3. https://saddlehunter.com/community/index.php?threads/jx-3-info-for-new-users.27363/
