This was neat to see when I checked the cam an older 4 point .

Hard to tell....he could be 1& 1/2 with a great first rack or 2&1/2 with a bad one.....

This is a 2&1/2 year old that was a similar fork horn at 1&1/2 like the one you've got. And Yes...if I see him I'm shooting.

Don't underestimate the effect that last winter had on the deer.  Deer usually lose weight during the winter but this past year they actually gained weight, so deer are going to appear older than they really are.  I wouldn't be surprised if that 4 pointer is a yearling.

Good point Rusty.  I shot a spike a few weeks ago that looked like a big doe but may only have been a yearling.  Total accident in the low light of evening but a very fully bodied deer.  You just made me feel better about it!  Although the venison Bolognese I made and ate the other night had me feeling pretty good also.............

No reason to ever feel guilty about putting some quality venison in the freezer.   :up:

Damn that is a big body on that original 4 pointer!  Although his horns look young.  If I had to guess I would say he is young and somebody left a batch of steroids on the side of the road and this buck found it.  I would give him another year.  If he is still a 4 then take him out of the gene pool and put him in the freezer.

That original 4 pointer sure looks like a 1.5 yr old deer to me
