Bear Hunt 2017

I'm sure we will have another archery/muzzleloader bear hunt and I'm sure it will be around the same time as it was this year, if so then the week of October 9th 2017. If given the chance to adjust or change the dates what would be your choice?

Keep it the same?

Have it a few weeks earlier or later?

Week of October 9th archery only, with 3 days of muzzleloader the following week?

Bear hunting for the entire month of October with archery or until the quota is filled?

Muzzleloader bear season opens for the first two days of muzzleloader season (monday/tuesday after Thanksgiving)?

I would really like it archery only for the whole month. But, that would be me being selfish because I love to bowhunt. I have no problem with how it was structured this year and had the muzzleloaders at the last 3 days again.I would be more than happy if they did it exactly the same for next year. I think the week of october ninth is perfect with the holiday in it.

I have rights to my opinion like you and everyone. I take pride in being a hunter and having ethics. Regardless if he killed the bear or not, he added fuel to the fire by mocking the anti freaks, therefore adding fuel for them to gather support to ban the hunt. Hunters like you shouldn't be mad at the antis as they are doing what we know they will do, we should be mad at him and to the one that killed that bear, we all knew killing that bear would be used against us all and the hunt regardless he wad legal game just way to much media attention on him. Leading up to hunt many preached about ethics, while hunting, make sure of proper shot placement not to have a injured bear running around for the antis to use agaist us, also keep our composer at the check stations cause of the antis and media coverage....yet you have no issues with this puke adding insults towards the antis nor someone killing this bear, both incidents are being used to ban the hunt....get your priorities in order

They brought unwanted attention to us all, they want their 15 minutes of fame they got it, they made their bed now sleep in it....deal with negative consequences.....they sabotaged this hunt, I for one will not keep quiet about it....best thing to do as hunters is to agree that the negative actions by one or two POS is wrong and will not be tolerated, by not doing so or being quiet adds fuel to the antis agenda...as far as confirmation from the state, they want the hunt to continue therefore they will say they have zero knowledge if it was taken or not....plausible denialbility, its called politics

I would like to see it for the entire month to give guys/gals a chance to hunt without having to take time off of work and putting a lot of pressure on the game and hunter in a one week period.

in a sense I agree...I knew some that only took one day off or none, or some that took time off but now limited in days for deer hunting....I guess its a catch 22 for some

Thought I would stay out of this post, but maybe we might get some good out of the circus, and resident clowns, surrounding Pedals the bear.

Here's what we know. Pedals may or may not be dead...no certain way to know, but the preponderance of evidence points to the fact that a bear with physical characteristics of Pedals was legally harvested by a hunter and checked in on 10/10. What we also know is the knucklehead Facebook instigator that was falsely accused by the antis as the hunter who killed said bear, never killed a bear and was cleared of any involvement in the legal harvest of a bear believed to be Pedals.

So, an unknown licensed hunter that legally harvested a bear believed to be Pedals, has not claimed his or her 15 minutes of so called fame for fear of death threats, arson or rape of family members by those sick and twisted members of the anti hunter fraternity. It is my hope their name is never revealed.

We all have our opinions and we will never change the mindset of the hardcore antis. Where we must concern ourselves with is the vast majority of people that neither hunt, nor agree with the crazy anti agenda. This includes the lawmakers who will ultimately decide if we continue this hunt in the future.

BHC...you want to discuss the future bear hunts?

True story:

At an assembly hearing on the bear bill last week, a picture was produced, from a NJ hunting website and distributed to committee members, that depicted an arrow through the face of a dead bear with the hunter posing behind it. Now, we all know it was an arrow stupidly placed in the mouth of the bear for the picture, but for Gods sake do we have to post it on a public, anti monitored  webpage to be used against us? In testimony, the antis said the bear was shot in the face and heart and died a horrible death. It was not disputed, the picture told a story. The bill passed out of committee. The Assembly members were disgusted. Antis win.

BHC...you still want to discuss the future bear hunts?

On Monday, before the Senate committee voted on the Pedals bill, discussion ensued amongst the legislators that " Even the bear hunters think the killing of pedals was wrong!" ...guess where they were able to pick up that tidbit of information from? In print...from a NJ hunting blog! The bill passed out of committee. Antis win.

Starting to see any connections here yet, BHC?

Those charged with protecting the rights of all hunters cannot do so effectively if our own knuckleheads give the antis ammunition to allow the legislators to say.....NO.

Want to call a fellow hunter a POS for legally harvesting a bear? Do it off line, or to their face. Want to take tasteless pictures of arrows sticking out of an animal, please keep them off public websites. The actions of a few impact many.

Future bear hunts will be hard fought by those organizations dedicated to preserving what we know is right, scientifically sound and needed. Please don't make our jobs any harder than they already are.

Opportunity expands in proportion to one's courage.

The killing of this bear was in fact legal, but with his worldwide fame, this hunt under the microscope it was total stupid move to kill it knowing the world is watching is that important to kill a bear and possibly kill the entire bear hunt? to mock the anti freaks, there is no reason to drop to their level , once more they will use both against us and the hunt. We see it already with media reports, bills being passed to stop the hunt...these two became the enemy of the hunt and the hunter cause of being selfish for personal gratification. So yes I think the one speaking crap is a POS, they one thay might of killed the bear under legal means was smarter enough not to come forward .......getting a bear hunt was a challenge, getting a archery/earlier season was a battle....now cause of negative actions very good chance it can be taken away
