Hello,

After not fishing for a while I have been getting the urge to fish again more and more. My issue is I work a lot as well as taking care of my 1 year old. So I don't get much time to fish. I live in Maywood in Bergen County anyone know anywhere that would be quick and easy for me to get to that I could fish for an hour or so in the evening? Thank you in advance for any help you might be able to give.

What type or types of fish are you looking to catch?  There are ponds, some reservoirs, and some rivers that will cover largemouth bass, sunfish, trout, catfish, etc.  Some of the reservoirs will require a trespass permit, but they are easily obtained.  I don't know that area well enough to suggest specific places, sorry.

Here's a solid place to start:  http://www.nj.gov/dep/fgw/fishing.htm

Scroll down to "Fishing Information" and then to "Places to Fish" for both ponds/lakes and streams.

I would love to fish for Bass or trout but if there was a pond close by and all I could pull out was some pan fish I fine with that too. I am basically looking for the place that will get me out fishing the fastest since time is really the issue for me these days. Thank you all so much I appreciate the help.

Cheers,

Tim

I'm in Maywood also . You can go to Otto Pehle Area of the Saddle River park system. There is a pond there that has carp and bass in it. The park goes from Rochelle Park to Ridgewood. There is a bike path that goes from one end to the other that follows the saddle river. A total of 6 miles. At the Paramus and Ridgewood area. The saddle river is stocked with trout in the spring and not fished heavy except opening day. A plus is you can take the family . I walk the bike trail from Rochelle park to paramus and back sometimes i do the whole trail and back 12 mile total. You cant believe the deer size and racks plus fox ,coyote and lost pokie man people (lol). Its our back yard . Look up Saddle river county park and it breaks the park down in sections and you can print out the map of each section and whats at eacharea
