Not much info yet. talked to one of the girls from the bear program today.

My bear had been caught this July , in the town I harvested it, It was one of 2 nuisance bears being targeted there.

The tooth they pulled at that time wont be submitted till years end with all those that are harvested through this hunting season.

She said all the age info will be available to them next August.

what was surprising was how much weight my bear put on in 3 months.

When tagged it weighed 182 live weight, when harvested it weighed 212 dressed with an estimated weight of 250.

so approx weight gain of around 65-70 pounds .

It's normal for a bear to put on 100 lbs from summer till denning up. I was told this by the bear outfitter I used a few tines in Canada.....will they be contacting us on our bear's information or do we need to contact them for it? In 2003 I shot a bear, they ended up sending MN e the information

Got sent these pics today from Tom the butcher.

can see where the bear gained its weight since July.

Talk about high fat content..

The first thing you want to do when you harvest a bear is get the fat off of it. The fat helps retain the body temperature and that's why some bear meat tastes crappy.

They really do pack on the pounds in preparation for winter.  Of course having piles of Dunkin Donuts throughout the woods helps too.
