10/3 wild buck action

Got in by the community scrape stand 4:40. A doe and small 4pt came in by 5pm but then it was a barrage of rack bucks starting with a 1.5 yr old 8 then the two year olds moved in with 2 8s and a 9. Then a borderline 3.5 yr old 7 pt that almost made me stand to get bow. Non-stop sparring very charged up bucks. Scraping licking and rubbing. Seven bucks total. All great up and comers. One 8 is so wide but very short times. Awesome hunt and it ain't over!

Polar opposite here in zone 6. I'd be happy to see a lone deer at 300 yards. Dead woods

I gotta enjoy the action while its here. Before you know it they will go underground like they seem to every season at at some point. Bucks are all gone 2 big doe and a fawn now. It's safe for them now I guess

They all check out that community licking branch and scrape. The biggest buck tonight took a good piss in it.

The wide 8 is the bully buck just charging at every other buck. 8 total bucks now. No shooters. Great night.

Sorry the video doesn't work. I had the wide 8 pushing a six around. All deer way out in field I mow feeding. I wanted to see how they would react to the new primos rattle contraption. Well it works- the four biggest racks literally ran right to me!

I hear ya - he looked better in velvet. I would really like to tag a bigger buck - and I just can't do that if I tagged one of those.  The buck I want, I haven't met yet, but I will know him when I see him because my heart will feel like it's gonna explode out of my chest... These bucks would have done that to me 20 years ago, but not tonight. I literally sat with my bow on the hook the entire evening and really enjoyed the show.

to me the hightlight of the evening was just testing out early season rattling. Only because I noticed that several bucks stopped feeding earlier in the evening when they heard sparring from around the bend (that we could not see). They abruptly put their heads up and ran to the noise.   Well I got the same reaction when as dusk settled in, and they were all done sparring and just eating whatever wild clovers and brassicas they could find in my poor man's food plot about 120 yards away - I took this cheap Primos plastic contraption that had the best acoustics of any plastic rattling device I have found to date (better than real antlers - btw), and just gave it a few twists and man they just came running in on a string..  Super-charged up bucks right now...  

 

I think the rut is  gonna be 2 weeks early..  (JUST KIDDING)  Relax it will be same as it always is...  This is NORMAL.
