Trenton passes a new .23 tax

Per gallon of gas, on a sliding scale to go up per gallon if, now get this if estimated revenue is not made.

So in essence, if the .23 cent tax doesn't bring in what's expected, the tax goes up!!

What are the tax offsets you ask? Well the is less than half a penny cut to the sales tax, a tax cut to the estate tax, but you need to die rich to see that one!

Of corse the hike goes into effect right away, the cuts? Eh, sometime down the road...............maybe.

This will add 50 bucks a month to my commute, bringing me to over $400 a month just to get to and from work, and it can go higher!! I think it's time to move out of this crap hole state!

It's a tax to cover all of the over-spending in Trenton.  Special interest groups and pet projects need to be funded!  Of course there are other, massive liabilities that are still going unfunded.

You're right, GhostBear, the way this state is run financially, is driving people and businesses out of the state.  It is a known fact that NJ is experiencing negative population growth (there is a Rutger's study about this), which means there are less people every year who are paying taxes, which exasperated the already dwindling tax revenue that Trenton and special interests need to fund their pet projects.  This is just another reason for people to drive right through NJ and fuel up at the border.

Well, I was considering a move for awhile now, this just has me leaning more towards it, I work for marinemax and can transfer to a different store with moving assistance, so I'm thinking Florida, Clearwater area to be exact, I'm the only holdout left in my family still here, I have 4 sisters, 3 of which are in Florida with my dad, and one in PA. My dads been after me for years to move down, guess I have an incentive now!

This did NOT pass yet. It was only an agreement by the power brokers in Trenton (I can only imagine what kinds of back-room deals were made on this one). The politicians need to vote Wednesday to make it law. You need to EMAIL YOUR LEGISLATORS ASAP and tell them how you feel about this.

Email your legislatures - ALL of them. That's what I did. Copy and paste all of these email addresses (thank you ANJRPC) into your email client and tell the politicians of this state to stop sticking it to the middle class! The vote is tomorrow.

 Thanks for all those contacts....
