What do u think it will score (8pt)

Scores never really mattered to me but a few of us were discussing what it may score. I have no idea.

I can walk you through it, it's very simple. I just use a tailor's measuring tape, it's very flexible. The official scorers use cable.

I went through it a few times, I think your buck is going to gross P&Y but I cold be wrong, although I am usually close.

 

As this is a typical 8 point, it's pretty easy. I am probably not following it in true P&Y order according to the sheet, but it doesn't matter. I am not an official scorer but I can get within a few inches or less generally.

 

Beams get measured in 1/8" increments from base to tip, with flex cable or tape along the outside.

 

Yours looks high and wide, but they don't sweep around adding more length. I will guess -

Right Beam - 19"; Left Beam 19 4/8"

 

Now you get 4 mass measurements, aka "H" measurement, starting between base and "G1" which is brown tine - you take the smallest measurement between those points. Then smallest measurement between G1 and G2, then G2 and G3 working your way out to the tip. There is no G4 on an 8 point so just measure halfway between the G3 and tip.

 

These are just my guesses.

 

Right H1 4 2/8"; Left H1 4 2/8"

Right H2 3 4/8"; Left H2 3 4/8"

Right H3 3 2/8"; Left H3 3 2/8"

Right H3 2 4/8"; Left H4 2 4/8"

 

Now take your inside spread at it's widest. Your buck is nice and wide - will guess 22"

 

Now it's "G-time", where you measure each tine starting at the brow tine and ending at the last tine near the tip. Draw a pencil or imaginary line on outside of tine, were beam meets tine on each side of tine, and measure on the OUTSIDE of the tine from that line to the tip.

 

Right G1 5"; Left G1 4 6/8"

Right G2 10 3/8"; left G2 9 4/8"

Right G3 8"; left G3 6 1/8"

 

Now let's add them all up for gross score. Keep in mind, whole different set of rules for non-typical points and splits but that's not applicable here.

 

beams total 38 4/8

Spread 22

Total Mass 27

Total Tines 43 6/8

GROSS: 131 2/8 Very nice NJ buck!!!

 

Now for deductions, basically other than inside spread, anything that has a left and a right, one subtracts from the other and gets deducted from gross score. If it was a 9 pointer and you had a right side G4 of 3", that's purely a 3" deduction (stupid - I know, which is why only gross matters to most folks releasing an arrow)

 

My math sucks but I am coming up with around 3 4/8" of deductions but since I kept all mass equal, the deductions will probably be a little more. But I have the "green score" net this buck at 127 6/8", which "makes book", but wait - has to dry for 60 days before an official measurement can take place... I believe this buck is going to be close to making P&Y after that period.

 

Again congratulations. In all due respect to the others guessing, I do strongly feel this buck already green scores both gross and net over the P&Y minimum of 125"... Even if it doesn't - won't diminish your trophy one IOTA!

I think you might be a tad high JH, the rack looks bigger in the picture because of the proximity of the camera.  You can use Dubs hands as a measurement, if he has normal hands then they will be 3 1/2 inches across.  

 

Here's another picture that will help with perspective.  The length of the hand is probably between 7 and 8 inches.

 

Dubs, measure the points and let us know how long they are.

I think I am spot on - in all due respect Look at the width on that thing. It is all of 22" or more I would think. Actually, Dubs coulda made it look a lot bigger if he straight armed it. Looks to me like his arms are bent at 90 degrees.
