what am I doing wrong

When I first log on recent topics appears on the screen for like 5 seconds and then disappears and I can't get them back.

I looked at your profile settings, they seem correct.

If you click the logo, you don't see any of the topics?  Just want to rule out you aren't in a forum view, as the recent topics only shows at the main page:  https://www.njwoodsandwater.com

If you are on the main page, can you tell me what kind of device and browser you are on?

Another minor glitch. I am noticing if I type text and add an emoticon, it won't post. Have to remove emoticon.   Just tried it again here and won't post.

 

Actually tried just emoticon - it doesn't work at all.

Hmmm if you type text and then add one by typing it like :emoji: or if you use the editor to select one and double click it?

Can't select one from the icon list above with the smiley face... I can type " : ) " without space in between and it works...

You're running Windows 10.

 

In the search Window next to the start menu, type in "internet".  You'll see this in the menu:

 

 

Click on Internet Explorer icon at the top of the menu.

 

When it opens, right click on the icon in the task bar at the bottom and pin it there.  Then you can click that icon to start Internet Explorer each time.  Edge doesn't work with a lot of sites.

I tried Edge and couldn't reproduce the issue unfortunately.

I avoid Edge and most things Microsoft

Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox work well, Edge and IE just tend to be a real pain on a lot of sites.

this happens to me as well. any emotion and wont let me post. once emotion is deleted I am about to post. I am using windows 10, but everything works on my chrome book, weird.
