.410 Gauge shot gun advice needed

.. I'm about to go dove hunting in a couple weeks.. the problem is my right shoulder is all screwed up.. I wont be able to take the recoil from a 12 gauge or anything more than a .410.. Too much pain... So much so, though I am a die hard pump action man,  i'm even gonna get a semi auto to further reduce any recoil.. So my question to anyone with any experience with a .410 is, is it doable for dove and what kind of loads do you recommend..  Thanks... :fudd:

Buy a 28. It is what a .410 dreams of being. I have both and they have no recoil but my shoulders are good. With that said other than a 1100 who makes a .410 auto thats not some tactical nightmare?

I spent most of my money on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.

Yeah I though about a 28 but I've never shot one and so don't know how much recoil, if any,  it has.. right now i'm terrified of anything that may have any kind of kick at all..so I just though i'd get the smallest gauge possible..  but your saying they both have about the same ..  maybe I should consider it... Those dove when in the evade and escape mode can be pretty hard to hit.. they're small fast and acrobatic... .410 may not be enough... but, i'm just out there for the fun of it anyway sooo.....

Most Name brands make them.. But it may be difficult to find one in stock at a gun store.. I really don't think there's a large market for them.. Prolly have to order it..

Doves are very easy to drop. You can almost knock them down with a stiff wind lol

..lol.. true..  but ya gotta hit'um first..  They also tend to lock their wings and glide a couple hundred yards before dropping when wounded..    better to blow them out of the sky leaving nothing but a poof of feathers float'n in the breeze..  Who wants to walk 200 yards Every few minutes at prime time to play fetch?.. My plan is to shoot in two round bursts..  1st round will be to slow'um up and the second to create the "poof" of feathers...lol

You ever eat one? They are awesome. More awesome without a pound of lead in them lol. They had two drain tubes in my neck on the right side after my surgery. Right now the only thing that hurts is my right shoulder from the tubes. I can't shoot anything bigger than a 22 mag right now. I have a Remmy 1100 in .410 at the farm. I'll shoot it today and let you know if it hurts. LOL

I have been sticking to the 22 mag for Rabbit and Groundhog control.  Where are you in Texas? I have a few buddy's out there from my small caliber forums.

Sent from my flip phone with the big buttons so I can see them

Yeah man.. They are good.. I haven't had them in years because I haven't hunted them.. But we use to make a stew just like beef stew, the difference being  we used Dove breasts instead of beef..  You have a good point about the "pound of lead" lol..  I think I might give Rusty's Idea a try.. Sounds good...

.. Right now i'm near Amarillo coming from Laredo and  Dallas.. Headed to Denver then back east..  I'm parked at a remote rest area for the night with my windows down hoping the Coyotes will sing me to sleep.. Havent heard noth'n yet.. :whatever:

I read this and think how lucky I am. Next he will be asking for someone to bring a dog to find his doves. Stand by
