He Was Hungry Too . . .

I took Donna (Lady Bird) with me fishing yesterday afternoon to a very special, very secret spot.  We saw air bubbles coming up from under the water and before we knew it, Donna was battling to keep her first trout of this year from becoming dinner for a very determined snapping turtle.  After he let go of her trout, as I was putting my cell phone away from filming this somewhat funny episode, he decided that my stringer was next.  After several quick tugs between us, he had my trout around the belly, and my first trout on the stringer was gone.  We both had a good laugh at the incident, but kept a close eye on our stringers until we finished fishing.  Donna ended up catching her limit and I came home with four.

Good tale! I've had the same battle numerous times over the years on the BFB, Paulinskill, Musky and SBR. Last year it was the BFB twice. I went 1 for 2 with the snapper winning 1. I've also had the same battle with eels trying to steal fish from my stringer. A friend of mine actually had a very large trout try to steal a smaller one from his stringer a few years ago!

lol.. I had a snapper chase a fish I caught right up on shore .. I teased it for a few minutes making it run back and forth after the fish..  in the end I gave it to him.. he's been my buddy ever since.. always shows up when I fish my pond looking for a hand out.. :cupcoffee:

You just never know what will happen.  It seems to be "Always an Adventure" with great, laughable memories being made. I have fished this exact spot twice before without incident and will be going back with Donna again this Thursday.
