Highway Road Kill

Recommended Posts

Took a quick trip on Friday to the Finger Lakes to stock up and noted the following on Routes 380 and 81:

Rabbit:  2-3 +/-

Squirrels:  at least 1

Turkey:  1

Porcupine:  5-6 +/- (usually good for 10+)

Beaver:  1

Coyote:  4-5 +/- (surprised me)

Deer:  2

Black Bear:  1

Misc Birds:  a lot

Other:  saw something that really looked like an otter, but not confirmed

I've always noted that these two highways in particular, are death traps.

Oh, I am soooo glad I'm not the only one that looks for and counts dead animals on the side of the roads when traveling . . .

I have a friend who lives just off lake Seneca, went up to see him a year ago and toured the wine country and a distillery. Had a great time. There is some excellent wine coming out of that region. I'm still learning about wines but will get there.

Some of the most unique road kill I've seen was a carp on rout 3 east at the grove street exit in Clifton, no water anywhere near there! Also an Aligator on the highway shoulder just on the Johns River bridge in Florida. A good 7 footer to! Then a chicken in jersey. But those two are unique to me!! Lol

Hunt with a Vizsla, cause life's to short to hunt with an ugly dog! :D RIP Tilly monster. (Attila) 2004-2017.
