LANDLOCK SALMON

Landlocks been hitting pretty good. Fished from 6:30-8:30, landed 8 missed a few. Snowed a bit, bald eagle sighting. Wind whipped up pretty good for a day that was supposed to be relatively calm. Trolling silver spoons flatline.  Largest about 19in, couple 18's and 16 and smaller. Fun morning.

Kus was this in NJ ? Nice fish it seems that some days they fight really good and other days not good at all. I got a 21 this year that fought like a laker and last year got one that size that jumped like crazy and peeled off line. Need to get out again soon maybe this weekend

Always had luck this time of year in Champlain. They should be close to shore and down current from any stream entering a lake to take advantage of the food. Not uncommon to catch Lakers in the mix.

there is more fat in the fish, and the skin is a lot thicker. i cook the salmon and trout differently. the trout i cook whole, the salmon i fillet. i cooked these in a cast iron pan with some seasoning and lemon slices. came out great. I've also cooked them over charcoal on cedar planks. that was awesome.  i like the salmon a lot.

Also allthough they stock a lot of them they are holding over really good. Went on Friday for a few hours and did very well 8 salmon and 3 bows most of the salmon were 15 + not many small ones this trip.

yes. some salmon are stocker size but it seems like I'm catching 3 different year classes
