McGreevey and Corzine Could Have ..............

The only skin I have in that game is as a taxpayer.  But the whole thing is a mess.  The state is growing ever closer to a Detroit-style bankruptcy which will be catastrophic for everyone (unless of course you are rich, which I am not).

The state is borrowing from Peter to pay Paul, and that's a spiral that's tough to get out of.  Debt is accumulating not only for the pension system but every year because they can't balance the budget.  McGreevey floated bonds every year, legally, to balance the budget.  It always ran at a deficit.  This is still an ongoing practice.

Very telling also is that the state's tax revenue is dropping every year.  It means that the state has less money every year to pay the bills.  There was a study done by Rutgers I believe that discussed the negative population growth in NJ (yes, more people are leaving every year than are coming into the state, believe it or not) and that businesses are also leaving.  Less businesses, less employees, less tax revenues.  Less citizens, less property, income, and sales tax to collect.  It's going to snowball for the state, and it's going to end like Detroit. I don't wish this on the state or any place else, but without some pretty tough changes, it may come to be.

And what business does stay gets the tax "break" as an incentive to stay so there is even less revenue to the State than what just appears/occurs associated with the mass exodus.

I was just amused by the fact that a Republican Governor got some relief by the Democratic Supreme Court.  Who could have ever guessed???????????????

I plan on working until I drop, so it's all good.

Yea, same here except if I find a way to commit a white collar crime when I am about 75 and can be sent to a minimum security "country club" type prison where I can get "three hot's and a cot".  An institution might not be bad either............

Of course, now that I posted this on a public forum, once the G-men read I'll prolly be looking at one or the other some time later this week ...........

I have no retirement, the economy over the past 15 years took care of that.

I'm going to hack some Russian and Chinese banks and ID thief their populations too.  See, there's no extradition treaty between our nations, so I feel it's okay to screw them the way they screw us.  That's my lottery ticket!  Of course it could end out that my wife gets a nice life insurance payment too...

First off there wasn't a damn thing wrong with the pension system until Whiteman took from it, and YES it continued with other governors, but the funds they took was for homestead rebates so the homeowners back then loved it. The unions kept on telling the state, county, local governments to stop but they didn't listen. It was Corzin that put in the first amount of money owned but that ended quickly. Krispy Kream, who co-authored the law and praised it sold it to the unions and he was all over the media praising himself about it, then he backed out, even with today's ruling the court said Chapter 78 should never be allowed to happen so there is another fight to battle .

Explain to me how the 2% property tax is working in NJ? Property Taxes continue to climb, highest rates in the nation .....FACT !!

NJ's credit rating still going down, and going down quick...............FACT!!!!

All the business tax breaks he gives out, where are the jobs? NJ has one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation, where as NY continues to grow..............FACT!!!

NJ has the largest percentage of residents moving out....Fact !!!  Reason is, all of the above !!!

So many more things to add, just not worth it, cause many people have drank the Kool-Aid he preaches, no different then those drinking the OBAMA Kool-Aid

Yes he gave us a bear hunt, big deal....Bear hunting doesn't help the wallets of the people, and YES I'm a Republican but changing over to INDEPENDENT  and I honestly hate liberals and their freak mindset

The governors are just one face to blame, but they're technically the executors of the law.  It's the legislators--congress and senate--that create these disgraceful laws.  All of those folks need to be voted out of office and replaced with decent human beings.  If our laws weren't so convoluted, I think we'd be a much better state.  But I blame the state legislators more than any other branch of government.  IMHO.

I too did the Republican to Independent move a few years ago, and have a general disdain for both conservatives and liberals telling me how I should live my life.

Agreed.  See my post above.  Beat ya to it.  Never said I was a Christie fan, but I do like Cool Aide.  What I was getting at was how the DEMOCRATIC NJ Supreme Court sided with him and basically screwed you guys again.  And it could have been dealt with when there was a D Governor, in fact two of them in a row with a D majority both houses but it wasn't.  But your rant was primarily about him and nothing about the Court.  Which, of course, was predicable.

I have nothing but respect for law enforcement, fire, and rescue.  But man you law enforcement guys are taking it from everyone these days.  Republicans want to screw you out of your pensions and the Democrats (i.e DiBlasio and Obama) seemingly have no respect.  Where you gonna turn?

Its a shame that politicians on both sides of the aisle play with your future as if you were pawns.  It's not fair and I agree with you on that.  But its all the fat man's fault, right?

I use to.. until I moved to NJ that is.. The level of corruption I see in this state at all levels of  law enforcement, from street badges to lawyers to  judges rivals that of  a 3rd world country.. And most 3rd world countries have harsh gun control laws.. Go figure..

It could be worse, he could be a teacher.

I hear ya.  Whole State is spiraling down the drain, possibly irreversibly, for some of the reasons referenced above.  I thank God me and my wife can get out soon.............................
