ATV Question (service question)

I have an ATV that's been setting for over 5 years and would like to get it running again. What do I have to do(service wise) to get it running?

Drain the gas tank and carb. Clean the plug and try starting it up. Also make sure the engine oil is full.

That's it? I don't have to tear the carb off and clean it,or replace tubes or anything like that?

I would start there. When I drain the carb I try to pull the bowl off. Spray some carb cleaner and check that the float is free and the needle moves with the float.

Most likely the carb is going to have to be taken apart and cleaned.

By cleaning the bowel of the carb and gas tank first you don't suck dirt into the gas passages. So if it ran well before you my get lucky.

Drain the gas and check the air box for any thing in there, mice like to get in ,charge the battery you might need a new one.give it a shot most likely is will only run on choke the carb will need to be cleaned just take you time and clean it real good check all the jets.

if you can do the work youself it would save you a lot of money I let mine sit for about 3 1/2yrs but I am not that handy it cost me a a lot of money to get it running again
