Had a great time fishing with Mike's Guide Service and fishing with PowerTeam Lures this past weekend for my Dad's birthday!

Here's a few pics from the trip...

Day 1...gotta hit up a little breakfast at Marsha's Sugarhollow Diner on the way up!

Dad's ready for a little fishing!

We arrive at Mike's place, and given the massive flooding rain on Friday, opt to fish the lake on his property for largemouths!

DSC04979-3-X2.jpg

You know there's been a lot of rain when the dock is underwater...

DSC04980-4-X2.jpg

Dad with his first of many that day!

DSC04982-5-X2.jpg

Yeah another...note the Ronnie smirk developing as he beats on the fish!

DSC04984-6-X2.jpg

Oh look, another!

DSC04985-7-X2.jpg

RonnieSenko strikes again!!!

DSC04986-8-X2.jpg

Wacky worming!!!

DSC04987-9-X2.jpg

Ah just another largemouth!

DSC04989-10-X2.jpg

Still catching!

DSC04990-11-X2.jpg

Wacky Ronnie and his wacky worm strike again!

DSC04992-12-X2.jpg

Brokeback bassin...ouch!  I was tossing bigger baits with Mike trying to land a big girl when I landed this guy with a little bit of a curve to his backbone!  Ouch!

DSC04993-13-X2.jpg

Meanwhile...RonnieSenko gets another!

Mike, despite wearing 7 sweatshirts amidst a cold front, is tossing topwater and enticing some strikes!  Get em!!!

DSC04997-15-X2.jpg

Ronnie back on with another one!

DSC04998-16-X2.jpg

Even some crappie...the weather might be crappie, but the fishing on the lake was lots of fun!

DSC04999-17-X2.jpg

Nice shot of Dad and I, he's loving it!

DSC05001-18-X2.jpg

We're seeing a pattern here...

DSC05006-19-X2.jpg

Almost identical shot with a different fish and a different background!

DSC05007-20-X2.jpg

OK Day 2, and we try to give the river a go by fishing on the of the local tributaries in hopes that the water will be a little clearer.  As you can see, we're slipping into a river raging with coffee colored water.  The river rose 11 FEET on Friday and into Saturday...wow!

DSC05009-21-X2.jpg

Mike and Dad, ready to rock!

DSC05010-22-X2.jpg

Let's go...here we come Susquecoffee River!

DSC05011-23-X2.jpg

Couple more shots of the muddy mess!

DSC05012-24-X2.jpg

Oh just slightly flooded...

DSC05013-25-X2.jpg

Another cold and dreary weekend day...it's mid May and morning temps were in the low 40s

Ronnie bundled up!

DSC05018-30-X2.jpg

Multi-sweatshirt Mike is ready to tear it up and give some new lures a try!

DSC05019-31-X2.jpg

Here's we're heading into the tributary...obvious break in water coloration!

DSC05020-32-X2.jpg

DSC05022-33-X2.jpg

Transition edge...

DSC05024-34-X2.jpg

We're going THAT way!

DSC05025-35-X2.jpg

Nice view down river!

DSC05026-36-X2.jpg

The smallies liked the NEW PowerTeam Lures natural color!  Still trying to swim away with it on the boat!

DSC05030-37-X2.jpg

OK he calmed down for a shot!

DSC05031-38-X2.jpg

Dad's into the smallies too!

DSC05033-39-X2.jpg

Then I landed this guy, apparently he found a tattoo artist...

DSC05034-40-X2.jpg

Cool shot showing off his ink!

DSC05038-41-X2.jpg

So I catch this stickfish, one of many resting on the bottom of this river after the storms and this little guy is attached to it.  I never saw a leech spread out wide like that to conform to the contour of a tree branch...cool!

DSC05040-42-X2.jpg

The underside...

DSC05042-43-X2.jpg

Dad and I on the river with the a nice one he landed!

DSC05046-44-X2.jpg

And dad with another nice one, the big one on the day!

DSC05047-45-X2.jpg

I had to jump in a picture with him, nice fish Dad!

DSC05050-46-X2.jpg

And a final exit photo, looking upstream on the tributary!  Next time I hope the weathermen predict awesome weather with no rain and warmer temps!  As always Mike put in a ton of effort and got us on the fish despite the incredibly adverse river conditions!

I think your dad was probably catching the same fish in the lake over and over again.  At least that's what I tell my fishing buddies who catch more fish than I do.

Happy birthday to your dad!

Those smallies look nice, those largemouths? No so much, they all looked very thin, and all head, those bass are over crowded in that pond! If he thinned a few out they'd fatten up some. Still a very good few days fishing in mid October!!!!

Hunt with a Vizsla, cause life's to short to hunt with an ugly dog! :D RIP Tilly monster. (Attila) 2004-2017.
