Opening Day Trout - take lots of pictures

With Opening Day only 2 1/2 days away, please take a lot of photos of your outings this weekend and post here.  Let us know how your day(s) went, if you do this annually, and any other pertinent information.  While the state has had its share of issues with their raised trout this year, there will still be the normal pre-season stocking amounts even if into some different waters than are normally stocked.  Rivers remain a bit high and we might see some rain between now and then, but there are plenty of trout to tug on the end of your line, regardless of what method you use to catch them.

Although I haven't been out for the opener myself since about age 15, I just might venture out to some less-crowded spots I know about on Saturday with my daughter and our fly rods.  Have a blast out there on Saturday and remember the season doesn't open until 8 am.  Don't want anyone to run afoul of our fish code regulations.  Make some memories with your friends and family!

There should be about 300 people standing next to me, I'll just get one of them to take my picture.

“I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target, but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature’s way of fang and claw and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow.” – Fred Bear

My camera's on the charger for Saturday!

Let's hope it doesn't end up in the drink!  More rain coming....

Only about 0.5" on the way, shouldn't be too bad.  Saturday starts out cloudy and then becomes a pretty spectacular day.

Sapere aude.

Audeamus.

When you cannot measure, your knowledge is meager and unsatisfactory.

I'm assuming you two ladies will be fishing the Musconetcong river tomorrow?

Good luck, have fun and share a bunch of pictures with us!

Yeah, where you gonna' be?  I'm half tempted to go barreling down the Musky in my kayak!

River has mellowed though (http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nj/nwis/uv?site_no=01457000).  I won't do the Musky unless it's over 400 cfs.  Probably one of the better kayaking rivers in NJ.

Matt - reminder to bring a large surf rod with some heavy Kastmasters just in case

I have a 3, 4 and 5 weight packed including one bamboo rod plus a Tenkara rod on top of those.  Beer and Bambi steaks (thanks Rusty and Matty), tables and chairs loaded in the car along with waders, vest, etc.  Now time to tie some more green caddis pupa.  Because the 6 full fly boxes jammed in my vest certainly can't possibly be enough for a single day  :shakehead:
