I shoot 90% of them under 10 yards .

and the rest still under 20.

Well thats good to hear???? The old timer that taught me always said “Do you want to turkey hunt or go to a turkey shoot, if you don’t learn to call you’ll be doing the latter of the two”

Good question. At 20 yds, 30yds and 40yds I used plastic milk gallon containers. They were peppered real evenly. At 20 it's a little tight. If I lose my poise, I could miss at 20.

 

Keep in this in mind this season.... It is a good lesson especially with a good turkey gun and load combo. I missed my big gobbler last year at 11 yards, shot right over his head. When he turned and ran I dropped him at 25 stone dead....Very easy to do with todays loads and patterns...

Went out and practice with the Mossberg 835 and a new Kicks Gobblin Choke. Constriction is 680. Very fun and interesting as you pattern your gun. Shot a few at 30/40 yards and took one at 50+ yds. Used 3 inch number 4 Remington shells. Gotta get those 3 1/2 shells!!! I will use the recommended 5 load on the 3 1/12 shells. The 835 is impressive and the recoil is not bad. I installed an air tech recoil pad and it works great. I hope to seei a turkey this upcoming season.
