Boots!

Ok so the time has come YET AGAIN to buy new boots. I have given up on Mucks. I have the Arctic pros, 2 seasons old but didnt get much use the first season. In this weather they keep my feet warm for about an hour. The seams let water in and it bubbles out it when I walk. I have ordered the Cabela’s Saskatchewan boots and returned them because they’re too damn big and bulky. The boots I’m looking for have to meet certain criteria.

Must be waterproof (everyone knows wet feet signal the end of your hunt)

Must be durable (can not tear if I trip over a barb wire fence in the dark)

Must be warm for at least 4 hours on stand in this weather (one pair polypropylene and one pair wool socks)

Must be able to drive my truck while wearing them

I will not buy muck boots again, but if someone else made a better version that is warmer I would get them. Price is not a concern, everyone knows you get what you pay for with boots. Am I asking for too much? What say you?

I wear mine with just one pair of good socks , and sit all day.

if its below 5 degrees I do add a pair oc artic sheild boot blankets over them , but not sure I really need to ,

Oh man. Rubber boots never in this weather. I use the muck boots up to late fall. Once the temps start dropping I have a heavier pair of Rockys 2000 gr boots. I just recently picked up the thermacell insoles which you didnt like.

I could probably make it all day if I had to but no need for all day sits this time of year.

A cheap investment for extreme cold hunting if you are stationary would be a pair of boot blankets.

I had the lacrosse alphaburleys for the last 5 years . They were very warm , I loved them . Two seasons ago I stepped in an illegal trap and luckily it failed but it punctured the back of the boot. I filled it with some rubber sealant and it lasted until this season on my Maine trip when it failed mid day and the boot tore really bad . Unfortunately they're done . But they were warm , comfortable , I could drive the truck (within reason , I wouldn't travel cross country driving them ) they were water proof .

No , I’ve never wore them tight. Always a size larger to allow for the air to insulate and to move my toes around if cold. I guess the Arctic mucks are good in the fall, but I guess I’m more disgusted that I bought them as winter boots because they’re advertised to be effective to temperatures “down to -40 degrees” ha what horse sh!t that is

Yea I’ve been meaning to get a pair of boot blankets, but I hate the idea of adding another item to the list of things I have to bring with me to my stand.

I have 2 sets of boot blankets and tried them before I bought the Sorels. Hated them for the exact reasoning you said....Too much stuff to bring in.
