I didn't know this was a thing, but it's pretty cool and he's really enjoying it.  He was in his first tournament this past weekend and ended up making it to the finals where he lost to a nationally ranked fighter.

Yep, this is tournement combat from back in the day, I fought in the SCA for a while but that was different as that was actual combat, the rules are different, like shield bashing, thrusting and combat archery. Loads of fun, there was a show on T.V. That was trying to get pro jousting going, was pretty cool, the only rule in that was no strikes to the head! Lol, it's been a while for me, though and I never did the horse stuf. Lol

Back in the day, when you went to "tournament" you entered the "lists", like any sport there where events, swordsmanship, skill with the mace, the bow, and the biggest was the lance, that's where the Knights of old made some real money! If you beat your opponent, and won the event you'd get a purse, but if you where good enough to unhorse your opponent, you won all his gear, his weapons, armor and the most prized possession, his trained horse! Knights where ranked on how many horses they won, the fallen knight had the option to buy back his gear, if he could afford it that is! Lol
