First Day success

I purchased a new weapon for bear hunting a year and a half ago. Because of Zone 1 permits being sold out during the archery season I could not secure another permit there since I used my tag during the archery season. 

 

The gun is a Savage 220 (20ga.) with stainless barrel, topped by a Vortex 3-9 scope and I am shooting 2-3/4" Remington Accutips. This setup is sweet ! Yesterday I found out how deadly it is.

 

This year there were still some Z-1 permits left in November and I got one. 

 

After sitting from 6AM I finally spotted a bear at 4PM , but she was staring at me from a small opening way back in a swamp. I think she scented me since the breeze kept changing directions all day. She finally approached the bait in a big circling loop , but then stared at me again. I was waiting for her to turn towards the bait and go behind a tree that was between her and the bait. I was planning on turning on my video recorder as she went behind that tree ! Instead she did an about face and went back into the thick swamp. As she moved to the left I followed her with the scope. At sixty five yards I saw an opening in the brush and sqeezed the trigger, she lunged foward an took off, then I heard a loud crash ! I had double lunged her and she lay dead 45 yards from where she was hit.
