So after my unfortunate events with stolen cams my wife comes home yesterday with a trail cam for me knowing that we couldn't replace the ones that where stolen as they were on the higher end. She says here I know u have a tasco already and Wal-Mart had this one for 20 bucks. Ok she's right I did have a tasco that I've had for 4 years and still works. It's 6 mp and adjustable delay from 5sec to 30 min and 5 second recovery time. Has video mode as well. Set up in the house it takes good pics I'm sure it will miss some things but it'll do. Just put it in woods let's see what happens

I never understood why they push giant megapixels anyway.  After all, we are only using them as a tool to help scout.  We are not trying to be Ansel Adams and frame them in a 3' by 4' format for showing in the Smithsonian.  Sounds like you have a great wife.  Hopefully these cameras don't grow legs and walk like the others.  I hate thieves and fear most are so-called "hunters" although I'm sure antis go looking as do the average neighbor that might not want us hunting near them regardless of laws.

I agree bucks. I did make a couple lock boxes but if someone really wants them they can get it. I got the metal conduit boxes from home depot. Cut it a bit to form to cam and bolted to tree. Put cam in and put a trailer hitch type lock through it.. it'll just keep an honest person honest but may deter the passer by

I'm convinced the vast majority of theft in the woods are committed by hunters. Guys just feel entitled to take what they please, or they want to push you out of an area they've "been hunting for years".

I will say, I would love it if my wife would come home with a trail camera for me. :)

Hunters are a diverse group, just like any other group.  There are some awesome guys (most on this site) and there are scumbags.  I've met my share of both and prefer to associate with the good guys.  We all have stories of the good guys, and those are the stories we like to hear but never make the news.  It's the scumbags out there who make the news and make all of us look like scumbags as a result.  I wish there was a way to cut that cancer from our community, but it's something we're all going to have to rally around to push it back into its dark corners.

My camera walked the other day and now there is a stand in that spot. Def other hunters,,,,,,I don't get it

I have to say that takes a lot of balls. I think I would spend more time hunting the camera thief with a stunt like this.

Good Luck with the cam VDEP. I use cheap cams and I'm sure they miss their share of pics but whatever I get on camera is better than I would have if I didn't have a camera there at all. I don't rely on cameras to tell me where or when to hunt. I scout, use the sign, and play the wind. Cameras in my opinion are just a novelty and I enjoy seeing what's around in the area that I hunt. It also gives my kids some confirmation and incentive when they see bucks on camera.

Great Job on Momma’s part  and cameras are meant to canvas an area for deer travel patterns , not necessarily quality photos. Even the cams I have on private land aren’t more then 60 bucks ... in case anyone wants , Moultrie often sells refurbished units for half price with a 1 year warranty and offer bundle pricing also.

Did you ever try putting your cams up high? My friend taught me this. I keep 4 screw in steps in my cam bag and hang the cams up 10ft or so. Most peiple walking through the wiids arent looking up. We caught 3 people at our bait site last yr ans they had no idea they were on cam
