Yupppp it sucks..wallkill is my back yard and we definitely don't have deer numbers this year...last year I would have 10-15 deer on cam behind my house and this year I have 5 so that is why I'm not hunting behind the house as much.

Happens along a lot of water ways...nature's way. Deer will bounce back.

That is right across street from my house  guys must have seen duck hunting there .There are so many ticks in that part of the refuge that i do not go in there

My area got hit 10 years ago, whiped the entire herd out. The herd is just starting to get back to how it was and that's with fish and game changing the regulations to 1 doe a season. Ehd is bad news, I found 5-6 dead deer in a little pond in my backyard. Went from seeing bacholer groups of 5-6 racks in my yard all summer to lucky to have a doe or 2...

We reported it before early duck season opened we counted at least 7 dead along the water and in the river. The following week there were at least 3-4 more dead. The whole place reeked of dead deer.

I heard from a customer today they are job to 165 dead deer found there so far..

That seems like a lot of deer.  How many estimated deer per sq mi are in that area?

Used to hunt in zone 12. A few years ago EHD hit the area hard. Horrible to see deer carcasses throughout the property. Very sad. But three or four years later the herd increased in numbers and we saw better quality bucks.

EHD certainly sucks when it affect the areas you hunt, but the herd will rebound quickly and it's always highly localized.  It's CWD we need to really worry about, because that will be a major game changer if/when it hits NJ.

Can you post or pm me what they tell you? I too live right across the street from where they say they found all the deer so I'm curious as to what they say
