Turkey Dogging with Ken Beam

Hooked up with the legendary Ken Beam last Tuesday. Ken told me he'd like to try fall hunting with a dog, so I brought my dropper Maizy along and made the drive. The morning started off a little slow, we tried one spot that didn't produce, tried another and bumped a small flock of poults and hens, didn't really get a good break on them, they saw us first and flew off, but the dog did manage to scatter a couple. We sat down and called anyway, heard them regroup about 200 yards off, but it was tough hearing much of anything with the way the wind was blowing. Once we pinpointed the flock which had mostly regrouped, I set Maizy on them again, and a minute or two later, it was GAME ON. ;) We set up in the clearing I believed they were assembled at (and verified on my tracking collar), and an hour later I heard Ken's A5 roar. The result was a nice young bird for Mr. Ken. We tried setting back up after the shot to fill my tag, but by then I think they were on to us  , so we packed it up and headed for home, made it back in time to greet the trick-or-treaters. Great fall day in the Jersey woods!!!!22904697_10212904341395841_1146239445907611628_o.jpg23000273_773652709501569_8906417942336691397_o.jpg22894202_773652769501563_6063318241571289751_n.jpg23116666_773652706168236_2887896954712174652_o.jpg
