Great Swamp hunt?

Anyone hunting up there this year? I may give it a try since I live so close. I have never hunted it so don't really no what to expect. Has the herd recovered at all from that big die off up there a few years ago?

The big die off was EHD. Unfortunately EHD has hit again approximately 1 month ago in the town and surrounding areas of the Great Swamp. Several times in the last 10 years to be more specific. Seems to happen every time the herd shows improvement in numbers which stinks....

EHD has impacted many of the surrounding areas to the Great Swamp...I understand the herd is down in the area. Good luck should you give it a go!

Don't waste your time. The herd has been hammered with EHD within the last 5 years, deer are few and far between.  There are some beautiful areas in there though.

Good luck! I think there's got to be a big daddy or two that holes up there.

 

Its really sad, I used to hunt there many years ago when the hunt first started .... protesters and all. It was a nice place. My oldest son took his first deer there when he was a wee boy, hunting from the ground next to me.
